This is retarded, the Mornington city council are bringing out a new scheme cough cough scam.

If you install solar panels you can get a 20 percent discount on your rates, so you gotta spend 20 to thirty thousand for panels, more for a battery.

Those that don’t their rates will go up they claim by $3.00, so those that don’t compensate those that get panels.

Knowing the scammers (council) they will only give the discount for a year or two, and when they can’t maintain essential things like rubbish services, maintenance of roads, parks etc they will revoke or add another tax.

Though on the below council website page, it looks as though the discount will only apply for the 2024 to 2025 rates year, there is no mention of whether this is a permanent ongoing for life scam (scheme)

The way the cost of living is going here in Australia, many dont have $50.00 left after paying bills, shopping on pay day.

I am getting sick of these programs that their only intention is to in-debt people to force them to become wage slaves.

The powers that be want this as they want you to consume, buy on after pay, or credit and get into debt further and further.

It sounds like it's only a proposal at this time. And there is a survey on the site that states this and also asks for feedback on supporting or not the idea. It would be good for everyone to at least complete the survey and convey their opinions and let the majority decide if that's what it comes down to.

This concept is being considered to encourage solar uptake on the Peninsula for homeowners and landlords. A solar system reduces a household’s energy bills and has significant benefits for the environment. Please read the FAQs and we would appreciate feedback on this concept.

But yes, it's come down to 'join us or pay the price' in this crazy clown world. So uh, non-conformists better be wealthy. Well, the conformists need to be wealthy as well. Solar panels that offset the minimums of 5kw is around $6,000.00 in Australia from what I can gather. But when it comes down to it, for the most part:

Says the guy that needed advice from the Internet on talking to his sister about the super sensitive topic of leaving her hair straightener on. Then raged about getting a ticket for violating the law. You never did update that thread to let everyone know how you schooled the police in court.

If you were being forced to either pay 20-30k or to subsidize those that did, I think you'd be singing a different tune.

You're just a trolling clown.

This is all part of the arbitrary and mostly nebulous 2030 goals, along with all the other green scams that nobody is allowed ask questions about. There is no study of how these things will achieve any real results, but it gives the government a whole new reason to take your money while enriching corporations that get the sweetheart deals to provide all the "solutions". There's no evidence it will work, so it's naturally prohibited to discuss all the evidence of why it won't... including that billions will need to die to meet the standards expected. They don't really want you all on solar, because then they lose the power and money that comes with controlling it. What they want is to grift more money for their campaign donations while they load up on more public debt, all while you're squeezed through prices rising year after year.

Has anybody seen an unbiased lifecycle assessment for all the green energy alternatives? No? There's a reason for that. Lifecycle assessment from cradle to grave are the gold standard for assessing the true impacts of products. They can't do it for green alternatives because they've got massive hidden impacts, from raw energy use to environmental devastation to inherently inhumane conditions required to produce them.

It's all gimmicks, not solutions.

Though I have mentioned on my other threads.

Victoria Australia is a test bed, used to see how far people can be pushed, abused, manipulated.

Everything that is fine in Victoria, has zero benefit for the residents.

It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Thankyou, I agree! There is never any life cycle cost analysis conducted.

Look at wind turbines, after the blades have passed their life cycle, they are either buried, or used to burn in concrete factories to run steam turbines to generate electricity.

The whole green movement is based upon lies.

At least a petrol powered car is 90 percent recyclable, unlike electric cars.

Nice. Here they made it illegal for the electric company to turn of anyones power (due to covid) so the deadbeats stopped paying and now everyone else's rate is going up to "make up the difference".

They will have their socialism, one way or the other.

The way the electric utility contract I have here in my neck of the woods works, if you don't use a certain amount of electricity per month, you are charged a flat rate. They charge the same rate if you have your service shut off at the house, but are still connected to the grid (not using it).

If you install a solar-charged battery system and have the utility shut off your service, then you are now facing local laws that make your home condemned and unfit for habitation. You could simply follow the rules and send any excess electricity from the panel back into the grid and sell to the utility at less than the retail market price for the KWHs you send. Plus, I believe that you still must pay the monthly hookup fee, so you get even less for the solar-generated energy you're forced to sell them.

ETA: One possible solution would be to have the township building codes changed to accommodate carbon-free energy quotas. Dress it up as climate change, green, carbon-free, etc., all while giving more independence from the all-intrusive grid. Petition to get the building codes changed for the progressive green revolution while making sure to penalize and exclude the utilities in order to break their monopoly. If successful, expand onto county and then state laws.

Or it will be like a lot of states now where utilities are pushing to reduce the reimbursed cost of the electricity the system generates. Essentially they are having people 30K to build a power generator for them so they don't incur the costs of building and get free power to charge you for.

I always thought fitness facilities could/should be used to collect energy generated by people.. Human energy is wasted on treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, etc. Can’t someone figure out how to contain the power generated by individuals on fitness equipment? Gym rats would be eligible for a discounted rate, this way more people would work out and get healthy and the energy collected would be “Green” for those insufferable Climate Change freaks!

I just realized my faux pas! If people get healthier, they no longer need medications and THAT is a HUGE NO-NO!

AND it would be twisted and considered body-shaming, and we cannot have that either!

Never mind. I see the error in my thinking!

The costs really kick in when the gear in the house that "handles" the power generated by the panels has to be replaced. I've heard that is the case about every 10 to 15 years. Thousands of U.S. $$

Cheers

I've been disconnected from the UK electricity grid for 3 years now. The meter supplying my home is a 'pre-payment key' which was credited at a local store by cash, weekly.

Since I got solar panels/batteries/inverter etc and built my own grid, the mains electricity meter now counts backwards, due to their standing charge of £00.601 per day.
It's nearly £700 in arrears now, ONLY because of the daily standing charge.

They can go # themselves lol, I'll NEVER pay them for something I haven't used, and I'll NEVER pay the local authority for any bull# green scheme they invent.
If my local authority try the same bull# as going on in Australia, I'll carry on as I am, and as a stubborn old bastard, I'll do jail time on principle, in a heartbeat!

No # EVER gets cash off me if I don't use their services, and my local authority is full of dictatorial #s who hate my 'problematic' defiance!🤣
