I loved him in Homicide but also loved that he brought that same depth of characterisation to slap-stick comedy.

Very very sad news. Six years ago I was recovering from lung surgery, worst experience of my life. My wife and I started watching Brooklyn Nine Nine. That man made me laugh so hard that we actually had to stop watching it for a couple months because the laughter hurt so bad lol. His character brought us humor when we truly needed it. I will never forget that.
