It may sound like a Disney take on James Bond flicks, but no, it's an actual "golden mole" that had not been sighted for over 80 years, and was considered extinct:

An elusive, iridescent golden mole not recorded since before the second world war has been rediscovered “swimming” in the sand near the coastal town of Port Nolloth in north-west South Africa.

This gives one hope about how many other "extinct" species may actually still be out there.

And I bet it's still "swimming" in the sand, blissfully unaware, thinking: "Hey if I can't see them, they can't see me".

Let's hope so.

I'd put up a preemptive sign: "Tourists: please do not dive into the sand in an attempt to 'swim' with the moles".

Nice find

When I was a kid I was hunting and came across a different looking fox.

It was a Kit Fox, supposedly extinct in western Canada.

A decade or so later it was announced they had made a comeback. I guess they never left.
