I found this news very alarming and concerning. I know that many young people are on these medications and I am worried about their health. I think it is so important to share information like this. even if one person is helped that makes it worth it. I never knew this about ADHD medication before, they are not drugs that I know much about. I think we should always exercise extreme caution when it comes to the health of young people in this country. There have to be alternative ways of dealing with ADHD. Putting the health of children at risk is not worth it. I hope in the future doctors will be more hesitant to prescribe these drugs after learning this information. please share this with anyone who you think it could help. I hope the medical industry takes a serious look at alternative treatments for all types of mental conditions. But I also want the studies to be done properly, with the proper methodology and parameters in place. I don't want people pursuing things that will harm them further or damage their mental health more. I hate to see people injured or in any type of pain. I like to see healthy people who are happy. I also think we should stop separating our healthcare systems so much. By that I mean mental health care shouldn't be a separate thing from regular health care

I was beaten to stating the obvious, so it won't be as funny..

Stimulant medications such as amphetamine-dextroamphetamine have known cardiovascular effects by catecholamine-mediated effects such as the induction of tachycardia, vasoconstriction, vasospasm, hypertension, and direct cardiac toxicity

This is like being surprised Alcohol causes depression.

Going back all the way to Columbine you'll find a common link between kids taking these meds leading up to their violent acts. All you have to do is look at their booking photos to see there's something wrong with them by their 'crazy eyes' .

I think if the average person knew that they would be less likely to give these drugs to their children. i dont think most people know enough about these substances. if I had kids these drugs wouldn't be an option for them

there is a known link between antidepressants and suicidal/homicidal thoughts. they are very risky drugs and it upsets me that they have been pushed on me numerous times. ive suffered from severe depression for many years. thats why it makes me so angry that these drugs are handed out to millions of people. the damage being done in unreal and few people even seem to care. every time I try to say this people either ignore me or pretend like I don't exist

I don't think most people have much knowledge of these drugs. if they did why would they let their kids take them knowing they have these risks? I would never do that if I had a child. I can't imagine doing that to them.

I beg to differ. I've known far too many parents who choose the drug option to manage their kids behavior and every one of them has heard all the risks but choose to ignore them-because the FDA says they're 'safe and effective'.....just like the Covid 'vaccine', which millions of people took and a lot of those people still insist all of the negative side effects and deaths are just conspiracy theories.

Yeah, but the method I think works best gets CPS called now.

Never really liked even other people's well behaved kids though. The line from Finding Nemo, "You're adorable but I have no idea what you're saying." comes to mind.

ETA: lol... Good luck!

All medicines seem to have side effects. That research seems to be legitimate, and the fact that the stimulant meds had a higher chance of higher cardiovascular risk sounds probable. The other type also increases risk because it is just a different method of action to get the same sort of result...but justalters metabolism to accomplish the desired result instead of adding stimulants.

Until more research is done on the causual effect, they will probably just toss this research to the side because of how many people now are on this class of meds.

Had been taking this meds, now I'm out of it.

They always diagnose the people who are creative, have parapsychic abilities or don't like boring tasks.

My mother was mad I wanted to stop taking it, she's so dependent of 'specialist' opinions, lol.

Much less stress.

This whole disease is a made up scheme, it doesn't exist.

Meds are a hard drug. It messes up with energy of the body.

I have been healed by using Biofeedback by someone amazing!
