Astronomers have detected a rare and extremely high-energy particle falling to Earth that is causing bafflement because it is coming from an apparently empty region of space.

The particle, named Amaterasu after the sun goddess in Japanese mythology, is one of the highest-energy cosmic rays ever detected.

240 exa-electron volts (EeV), millions of times more than particles produced in the Large Hadron Collider, the most powerful accelerator ever built!

an exa is 10 followed by 18 zeros.

the bit that strikes me as extra crazy is the possible origin for the thing.

Particles with Oh-My-God or Amaterasu-level energy would be expected to blast through intergalactic space relatively unbent by galactic and extra-galactic magnetic fields, meaning it should be possible to trace their origin.

Tracing its trajectory backwards points towards empty space. Similarly, the Oh-My-God particle had no discernible source. Scientists suggest this could indicate a much larger magnetic deflection than predicted, an unidentified source in the Local Void, or an incomplete understanding of high-energy particle physics.

ALIEN!s™ attack
obviously

because we discovered they got cities on Proxima B or what's it called.

But Amaterasu appears to have emerged from the Local Void, an empty area of space bordering the Milky Way galaxy.

A potential candidate for this level of energy would be a super-massive black hole at the heart of another galaxy

So something tripped a high reading, but not sure what it is. IDK?

I feel misunderstood.

why is everybody so serious?

... not that it wouldn't make an awesome plot for a story or movie

This is my 1st pic of a UFO as in ET the alien as videoed over the South Carolina - Georgia border on May 4, 2018. Also filed report on NUFOC. This is a screen shot from my video as enhanced by "The Black Vault" aka John Greenewald Jr. His investigator Monica added the green marks.

IMO they are here and have been for centuries.

Crop circles are obvioulsly all fomed by hippies on wook planks. Uh huh!

I've seen UFOs too.
And this is my fav crop circle:

I just am pretty sure whatever this is if it indeed comes from a 'void' is maybe actually getting towards the root of where 'they' also come from, or at least how they travel if they're mere matter-mortals like us.

You know, I am just not married to any theory of what it was that I saw, all I know is it was obviously intelligent and very much 'alive'.

And I just had in my head how much I wanted the lights on Proxima B could be sign of alien life story to be true-ish or kind of confirmed anyways, so me making fun of it is more to keep me from falling down the next rabbit hole.

No offense intended not minimalising your experience or anything just... talking crap on the internet to keep going in kind of almost a straight line between the mountains of ... doodoo

You could very well be correct about the lights on Proxima B. Nobody will know until we get there ...

Dodoo

No, I get and understand as to where your coming from as many will blow it off until they expereince it. I am not the only one who witnessed. All others were female. One also had a Android App that ID's stars, planets and space junk. She pointed at one UFO we saw in 2020. It came back as unidentified.

SkyView apace App. Pay the $2 to get full version. Want to go combat. Buy a pair of night vision binoculars and look up at space. It may take a few days but whats out there will blow your mind; REFERENCE Richard Dolan UFO Researcher

Those fast radio bursts sure are interesting. I do worry though that they will turn out to be some sort of pulsar or something similarly mundane.

And yes, I get the irony of calling a pulsar mundane

It's strange that this news is all the rage right now on social media since it actually occurred on October 9, 2022. You will get lots of results from a search but it's all the same regurgitated information. Also, it's a very rare event and there aren't any known residual or continual effects at this time, at least from what I am reading from the very scant information regarding the event.

Astronomers estimate, however, that GRB 221009A was a one-in-10,000-year event and so a closer one would be even rarer.

But here's the original open source article:

Interesting yes, doom porn, no.
