I recommend reading the Mothman Prophecies book.

It details more than a year of sightings and encounters leading up to the Silver Bridge tragedy.

I haven't read the book yet but I have read the available literature online and have followed the story for a long time now. It's always a good idea to read the original book upon which the modern understanding of Mothman is based on, but there seems to be more to this legend and perhaps it goes back in time to distract eras.

There's been quite a few sightings in recent years with video and clear photos. Look into Mothman in Chicago.

we killed everything frightening in this world,,
people like hercules, and valiant knights,
and outraged indian villagers of today still crowding around a tiger
beating it with sticks and throwing rocks
until its dead.. yes,.... they STILL do this.

so any dragon, or veloceraptor, or wild unicorns..
quetzequoatal ALL DEAD... we did it, wooley mammoths
sabretooths.. GONE

I heard if you rub its wings and the powder comes off it can't fly anymore.
Mothman sits by my porch light all summer long until a giant bat ate him
