----On Wednesday, August 30th, Category 3 Hurricane Idalia struck Florida. Just 3 days later, President Joe Biden was in Florida touring the damage.

President Biden and first lady Jill Biden traveled to Florida Saturday to survey the damage wrought by Hurricane Idalia and the state, local and federal response to it.

The president and first lady took an aerial tour of storm-affected areas, before traveling to Live Oak, Florida, where they received a briefing on response and recovery efforts and met with first responders, federal personnel and local officials. The president also toured damage on the ground in Live Oak.

----On Tuesday, August 8th, Wildfires ripped through sections of the Hawaiian Island of Maui. President Joe Biden didn't want to talk about the tragedy that caused 114 men/women/children to lose their life. FINALLY, after 13 days of ridicule from all over, President Biden interrupted his Lake Tahoe vacation and visited Maui for a few hours.

United States President Joe Biden told survivors of Hawaii’s deadly wildfires that the nation “grieves with you” as he promised federal assistance “for as long as it takes”.

Biden arrived in Maui on Monday August 21st, 13 days after the wildfires ravaged the western part of the island. The fires – the deadliest the US has seen in more than a century – have killed at least 114 people.

President Joseph R. Biden is a DEMOCRAT.

Florida is mostly Republicans. Florida did NOT help Joe Biden become President.

Hawaii is mostly Democrats. Hawaii DID help Joe Biden become President.

WHY was President Biden so HESITANT to show his support for Hawaii after their disaster, but so EAGER to show his support after Florida's disaster???

Any good theories on this?

Any time the POTUS travels anywhere, there is a huge impact on the local infrastructure. Airports and roads get shut down by the Secret Service. Public service employees like cops and fire fighters and disaster relief personnel get diverted from their normal duties, etc., etc. Right after a natural disaster the locals don't need the burden of dealing with a Presidential visit. A normal human being doesn't want to add to the burden that people who have just lived through a disaster are feeling.

I guess you're not smart enough to think about stuff like this.

Just wow!

if it's 'smart' not to disrupt disaster relief by a visit that would be considered so disruptive, WTH did he go to Florida three days from the hurricane? Because the loss of life was so minor a disruption by a presidential visit wouldn't matter? Because they are mostly upper-wage earners and need the support more?

How 'bout you use your vast wisdom and superior intelligence to enlighten all us low-level-IQ members, oh great wise one.

Simple answer. Hawaii, response to the desaster was a disaster in itself, beginning while the fire was still burning. Florida, response is going great, starting from before the hurricane hit. Biden is a Democrat but still wants to look good being seen where they are not having to investigate those in charge of the desaster.

Also it is in his regular time zone, nap time not needed to be adjusted. Less cranky during and after the trip.

Actual accountability and responsibility are pure annoyances to Biden who just wants to enjoy all the trappings of a king, believing he is like a king, albeit a very evil one. When asked about Hawaii recently he just stammered "No comment" about the disaster. That is not a clean or decent human being's response.
I love how those who adore Biden believe they have somehow ascended in intellect and then suddenly know everything about what Biden does, logistics, travel plans, building schematics, etc. What the locals of a disaster area need, and make excuses for what Biden actually did by attempting to explain what he did, because you know the man just like one of his close advisors does. It's the cult phenomenon of cultists thinking.
ROFLMAO even.

I hadn't given this any thought before so let me have a few minutes to muse upon it.

The Florida Hurricane was part of a long cycle of yearly disasters that hit the south eastern US. I can imagine that there are contingency plans established as protocol for such events. This recent hurricane was seen for days, long enough for Florida authorities to give plenty of warning to citizens. In this case, their are likely well established plans that can be activated to get the POTUS to the disaster area in rather short order. This hurricane was predicted to be a bad one for days and days and the possibility for a presidential visit was likely sitting on the drawing board to be implemented.

The Maui fire had little to no precedent. It came out of nowhere with almost no warning. No plans were in the system for the project of flying the POTUS to Hawaii on such short notice. So it took longer.

Now that's just a quick surmise on my part to add to the possible reasons for the disparity in time but reading through the thread, I can easily see Boomers suggestions as well.

Considering logistics might help for a better understanding.

Personally, I think it's because of his Democrat Ideology. He doesn't NEED support from Hawaii in Nov 2024. He's already got Hawaii in the bag. But Florida, Biden would love to pick up more Electoral votes than the Republican. The politician in him says, pretend you really care, in states where a Democrat has not won in awhile.

With a "normal" President, Definitely! But Joe Biden? Nobody even walks up to shake his hand. He uses a stairwell to get on Air Force One that's designed for toddlers. On the beach.....: www.ndtv.com...

Former President Trump has a larger entourage, and generates a larger welcome....EVERYWHERE.

That statement right there just proved you only made this thread to use a disaster that cost lives for your own political reasons.

There's five airports that could handle a presidential or military landing in all the Hawaiian Islands, there's over 140 in Florida...

The secret service dictate where a president goes pretty much, even if they say they want to go here or there they can easily veto it for safety reasons, even if it's for ol Joe, they have a job to do.

That being said, maybe the whole maui shenanigans got them thinking he needs to pay a little more attention to these kind of things, but, that just fulfills the old saying the bridge is only fixed after it has fallen, and he and his admin only care once people barked at him the first time.

Yeah, it's sad indeed to see America with such a poor leader as Biden, who has to have others tell him how to act humanely to his fellow Americans.
