I freaking love The Nazca.
They are lesser known, but basically, their entire existence was shaped by the really arid desert climate.
Concensus says Von Daniken is a retard, but beyond that, the general opinion on the purpose of the lines is that they were part of a cultural
superstition surrounding rain. To show off to the gods above and make it rain or repeatedly walk the lines as a religious procession and make it
rain.
That's maybe a stylized version of a sky god, but more likely, the character in the OP is related to their love of new life growing from the head.
The head jar is a ceramic vessel with a human head painted on it, along with trees and plants sprouting from the head which is known as the
Sprouting Head motif
It seems unlikely they would deviate very much from that spiritual/cultural theme.
They also took a lot of Mescaline (San Pedro Cactus) and cut off a lot of heads. AN INSANE AMOUNT OF DECAPITATION. The longer the wait for rain, the
more heads they cut off, and more lines they made. Severed head = new life.
All in the hope the sky gods would make it rain. Such is life living in the driest deserts on earth.
