Well,
We are here again.
Congress has requested information, and the fbi has refused.
I was under the impression that congress has oversight of the fbi?

www.pbs.org...

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., criticized the federal law enforcement agency after he said his committee was told it would not gain access to an unclassified form that describes “an alleged criminal scheme” involving the president and a foreign national.

Interesting it’s a simple unclassified form being denied.
How is that possible?

“If he does not act, he’s not above the law. He’s not above Congress. And we will hold him in contempt. Now I want to be very clear about that,” McCarthy said

Not the first time this has been done.

www.politico.com...

I doubt this will end quicker than that example.

A contempt of Congress charge would require a full committee vote before going to the House floor. If the House were to approve a contempt resolution against Wray, the decision about whether to prosecute him would fall to prosecutors in the Justice Department, where Wray works.

Interesting times.

This reminds me of that other DNC POTUS, Obama.

Yep, he fundamentally changed America. And this is what half the country wants.

I don't think half the country wants a dysfunctional weaponised government, they just want to do what they are told , since then they can feel 'right' for the least amount of effort.

The Media and corrupt Politicians want you to believe it's half the country.
They control the narrative.

No, it's not the first time something like this has happened. It's actually the third.

As discussed in your reference, the first time was in 2012 when the Republican-controlled House held then Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for refusing to turn over documents relating to the Operation Fast and Furious gun running investigation.

The second time was in July 2019 when the Democrat-controlled House voted to hold Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt of Congress for refusing to hand over documents regarding President Trump's attempt to place a citizenship question on the 2020 Census.

Uh
It appears to me the legislative and executive branches will be in a battle of constitutional powers again.

Those willing to take our nation to a constitutional crisis to cover misdeeds are vile.

You think it’s ok for a government agency to deny congress requests for records?

I find it interesting the government can’t get information from the government.
Perhaps the government should stop funding itself?

SCOTUS has ruled that Congress can only issue subpoenas for legislative matters. What bill is Comer's committee working on that requires this document?

It’s in the article I posted.

“The FBI’s decision to stiff-arm Congress and hide this information from the American people is obstructionist and unacceptable,” Comer said in a statement.

You think the fbi should be able to keep government information from congress?

Congress also has the constitutional duty to perform oversite.

What Bill was Jan 6 working on when Bannon was found guilty of violating a congressional subpoena?

Word on the street is that the fbi caved and will allow congressional reps to travel to the fbi to see the document.
But the fbi is ascared of leaks now, where was that concern when they leaked pics of margalo?

Guess we shall see.

congress has investigative powers. And with a majority, they have subpoena power.

The Supreme Court in landmark cases has broadly upheld congressional powers to conduct investigations, as long as inquiries are related to subjects on which Congress can validly legislate. During the Senate investigation of the Teapot Dome scandal in the 1920s, the Supreme Court held in McGrain v. Daugherty (1927) that congressional committees can issue subpoenas, compel witnesses to testify, and hold them in contempt if they failed to comply. In another decision, Sinclair v. United States (1929), the Court ruled that a witness who lies before a congressional committee can be convicted of perjury.

The MAL photos were included in a court filing. They weren't leaked.

WRAY is talking to GRASSLEY and COMER at this moment, according to:

FBI Director Christopher Wray is set to speak with top Republicans over their subpoena for a document related to an alleged "criminal scheme" involving President Joe Biden during his vice presidency.

Wray is scheduled to speak privately with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Wednesday about the Republicans' investigation. The call will take place at 1:30 p.m., the Washington Examiner has learned.
