Sad news to wake up to. A grand part of Canadian culture and all-round goodness.

Anyone remember CanCon? Where commercial radio had to play 30% Cdn. content?
I'm so sure this helped many Cdn musicians get better recognition/careers because of it.

Bless you Mr. Lightfoot - your music, talent and persona live on in grand style, forever.

He loved music and his fans and he stuck with both right up to the end. I ran into him back stage last year. He was taking an oxygen break between sets.

Of course, out here, this is the one song we yelled and cheered for!

RIP Gordon.

Bummer man . I’m going to take a trip down the carefree highway and take a trip down on the old Edmund Fitzgerald

They fit the d party ? Not sure what that means , I love sundown . I guess the songs are all the same we listen too but we all hear them in our own different way. I heard the news and was saddened . Justin Trudeau said something and I thought who gives a damn what that soulless person thinks . Bob Dylan said he didn’t think there was a Gordon Lightfoot song that he didn’t like , he said it was like he wanted them to last forever , we lost a legend
Lightfoot was the more successful brother to Bigfoot

I take it age didn't detract from his concert? His voice still good?
Must have been such a wonderful concert!!!!

Damm.
His documentary "Gordon Lightfoot If You Could Read My Mind" is on Amazon Prime. Watched it a couple of months ago his voice aged but he could also hit some notes like he was still 40.
Safe Journeys RIP

Will always be my favorite.

Wow, I didn't realize he had taken some decline in health,
just was reading about that. What a Trooper!

Yeah, all of music makers have a way into our minds
and hearts even when we do not realize what is happening.

Lets hope KK waits a while...

For 84 he was still pretty good! His voice wasn’t what it used to be but it was still a wonderful performance.

He must have loved performing to be doing it at 84. I don’t imagine it’s easy on the body at that age.

It’s a bit sobering seeing all these rock icons age and pass. He had 25 or more years on me but time is flying by so fast now!

What a great songwriter, musician. Will miss him dearly.

Last summer I put on one of his live shows in probably the 1970s for a group of young people who had never heard of him.

Sad to hear of his passing.

My favorite songs were -
If you Could Read my Mind
Sit Down Young Stranger
Sundown (didn't know it was political; I thought it was about an ex-girlfriend)
