people in power are corrupt, this is a default experience

never trust humans

everyone who has any power or money is corrupt

apply the pareto principle

80% of people are corrupt 20% are not

It hurts when you learn specific individuals you trusted, turn out to be corrupt, or protect those who are corrupt, which I guess makes them corrupt too.

This gives me hope that the pendulum is beginning to swing back to the side of decency. 50 may only be the tip of the iceberg, but at least it's a start.

I'm not giving up on human decency just yet. The squeaky wheel always get the grease, but I think the majority of society is getting sick of the perverse corruption our oligarch are trying to push.

Are you saying we shouldn't trust your advice?

I'm not talking to you, I am talking to anyone who's the target audience that you are suppose to influence

apply the pareto principle 80% of people are corrupt 20% are not

Applying the Pareto principle would mean that 20% of the people commit 80% of the crimes.

20% of the people are extremely corrupt and commit almost all the crimes. The remaining 20% of the corruption is probably done by another 10-15% of the people. That would leave about 2/3 non-corrupt.

It's natural for these predators to become offcials like PD and FD, paramedics. All of them to be corrupted. There power mad ideas spawn terror. Why am I not surprised by this? I want law and order, but not this. Robocop enters chat:
'Stop!, You are under arrest'...

I like the idea of Dredd more but I can deal with a robocop.

At some point maybe such a thing wouldn't be so bad.
I sincerely wish I didn't feel that way.
It doesn't speak very well to the course humanity is on.....
But....it is what it is and criminal behavior that goes beyond petty crime is on the rise it seems and currently in many areas police are heavily involved.
That is not ok as they are supposed to keep law and order.
Interesting sad times we live in to even contemplate a Dredd like scenario.

Do you honestly think the grass was greener on the other side?

Or do you think the 'grasses' weren't believed for the majority of human history?

Apologies for the word play but I found it to be a way to drive the point home. Times are changing and it's not just dirty pigs that's at risk, all public service workers are at risk of being scrutinized and I find it to be hilarious because it's about bloody time.

Give democrats in the US a couple more years and pedophilia won't even be a crime any more. Other nations will follow.

I have never heard of the Pareto Principle, thanks.

It seems to be a principle applied to business and investing.

asana.com...

However, like Mahogany had pointed out, if properly applied, the Pareto Principle, "roughly 80% of outcomes come from 20% of causes", would mean that 20% of those in charge are corrupt and causing 80% of the corrupted outcomes. I do feel that it was better the other way like you said it as 80% have been corrupted with 20% playing it straight. That seems more like it to me.

The real problem is not the corrupt people in power.

It's the vast majority of otherwise decent people who are lazy and apathetic and allow corrupt people to dominate.

Many here have read my analogy. If the farmer puts the fox in charge of guarding the chicken coop, the farmer is more responsible for the resulting carnage than the fox.

The sickest I have ever felt, without actually being sick, was when I found myself in family court. Even my own attorney through me under the bus after apparently having colluded with the opposition. I WAS the good guy there but no one was about to acknowledge that. The corruption in the courtroom that day was palpable and it disgusts me still to this day eight years later. I haven't been the same since as it changed my view seeing how our system of "justice" can work.
