Ive been having this problem since my cat was born...Her mom gave her fleas and I've been trying to get rid of them since. Spot on flea treatments aren't working and their cost, plus those of the deparasite pills, are adding up. I'm also going crazy with trying to clean up all the "flea dirt" and dried up butt worms.

any suggestions?

What I did after getting a free mattress for my son off my sis-in-law;

Spread salt in the carpet to dry the bastards out and vacuum 2-3 times a day and bathe the cat every 2 -3 days with Dawn or Palmolive soap religiously for a week or so.

Thats how you get rid of them

You'll never get rid of fleas if you have an indoor/outdoor cat. Fleas can live for up to 6 months without a host, so good luck!

We have three cats, Yes they have fleas, we are poor too, and I rarely flea treatment our cats mostly in the summer months.

Actually just bought a flea treatment for them as we are going away for two weeks and staying in someone else's hut by the river on our farm. Our cats always come with us, they love staying at the farm by the river.

I have seen a pop up add recently for some powder you sprinkle on their food, I can't remember all the ingredients but I know it had Brewers yeast in it.

Flea comb everyday also helps.

We had a tic tac container with some live fleas in it. They were still alive after two months. Now my daughters comb the cats and put the fleas in a zip lock bag until there us a few and the squash them in the bag.

Yes fleas live in the grass.

What about borer, any tips on borer (spelling)

Blue Dawn dish washing detergent .
Give the little buddy a bath .
CAUTION : Wear gloves .
CAUTION : Do not get it in their eyes .
CAUTION : This is recommended for kittens only . Unless one doesn't mind the pain they would go through with a larger cat .

If one regularly rescues kittens . one learns these things .

Revolution, is by far the best flea treatment I've used in 30 years of owning cats, it's not even close.
www.revolution.com.au...
If you can get it in the US use it.
You're welcome.

Edit, it also treats heartworm etc too. Literally one stop parasite removal.

NEVER use dish soap for fleas. 🙄

Your vet sells the proper soap for getting rid of fleas. It contains pyrethrin, which is what does the trick.

This method is useless though if you continue to let your cat go outside and if you don't fog your home for fleas and their eggs.

I work at an animal hospital and we recommend Bravecto for fleas & ticks, they make it for cats as well as dogs. They have a dose that is given once every 3 months rather than monthly. I have heard that Revolution is also good.
