BREAKING: Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe attacked. Possible assassination attempt

Good evening all.

I am getting reports from friends in Asia that former PM Shinzo Abe has been attacked in Nara Japan.

I have no other information. I'm awaiting confirmation right now but it appears to be legit.

Might have something to do with that. Lots of crazy is happening in the world right now.

His involvement in Taiwan might have something to do with it.I have no idea though. There's a lot of moving pieces in the world right now.

Im unfamiliar with Japanese politics so wasnt sure how polarizing the guy may be.

Wikipedia was updated with his date of death before I got any push motivations from major news outlets of the event.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo has collapsed on the street after being shot in the western prefecture of Nara. He was making a speech for an election campaign. The fire department says he is showing no vital signs. Police say a man was arrested at the scene.

Abe was campaigning for a Liberal Democratic Party candidate in Nara City. He collapsed at around 11: 30 a.m. Abe was taken to a hospital.

The fire department says he is in cardiopulmonary arrest. He is scheduled to be transferred by medevac to Nara Medical University Hospital in Kashihara City in the prefecture. Police say Abe appears to have been shot from behind with a shotgun.

Police arrested the man, who appears to be in his 40s, for allegedly attempting homicide and are interrogating him. They say they seized a gun at the site which the man was apparently holding.

An NHK reporter who was at the scene says Abe was bleeding. The reporter heard what sounded like gun going off twice.

Of course this is a developing story, so things may change.

Close enough to kill him.

Reports are that there he died at the scene or on the way to the hospital.

Witness reports say he was bleeding from the neck and had no vital signs at the scene.

prolly pretty close id bet,prolly bird shot since slugs are hard to come by in japan i hear.

The method used (shotgun) gives a clue who was behind this.

If it was old guard from Japan, a sword would have been used as the weapon.

When was the last time a shotgun was used to assassinate a world leader?
