Hopefully by the end of the year when the housing market collapses I can go pay cash for an acre of land.

It may or may not happen. If anything it will flatten out. People who were on the fence to sell will not, buyers who were on the fence to buy will not. New buildings will stagnate. Land will always be worth something, so don’t get your hopes up for getting it for next to nothing, unless you find some desert for sale in NM.

So the video is made up now?

Either that or everyone posting on Tripadvisor who just ate in Cuba in the past month along with the restaurants listing their menus that have beef on them are lying.

Hmmmmm, let's see, internet rando is lying or hundreds of other people are. Wow, this is a toughie....
tripadvisor is a joke site. Who funds it ? I still will believe a first hand experience before a random funded site.

It's a publicly traded company, no one 'funds it'.

Of course you would, since you got caught making something up. If you took the time, which you obviously haven't, you could have looked at all of the restaurant's menus via their home pages and seen the plethora of beef, pork and lamb dishes. But all those restaurants are obviously lying too, just to make you and your fake internet person look bad, right?

Cubans flee to the US , that much is definitely true. I went by the video from this guy who I believe 100%. Cubans are patriots for a reason they fled oppressive socialism

Who is obviously lying. Meat is not illegal in Cuba.

Unless you think all the people posting reviews of meat dishes they ate, the restaurants websites that list those meat dishes and US beef exporters to Cuba are the liars.

Yeah, it must be all of them lying and not rando lying guy.

It's not just desert that's cheap. I live in a mountain valley, beautiful 360° views of the mountains. Moved to get away from Wisconsin winters. When we bought the land the old timer neighbor asked us what we paid. He was shocked it was only $2000 an acre. He said when they developed the "subdivision" back in 1970 they were getting $5000 per acre, so there are still some deals out there, you just have to find them. I love it here, warm without all that northern swamp bog humidity plus I'm closer to all the awesome national parks out west. If your into astronomy, the night sky here is amazing.

The things yourself and others have mentioned in their various areas are also happening here in Australia.

I live in a regional area and the things such as stupidly high prices for petrol and diesel ($2AUD and $2.20AUD respectively per litre), general groceries and meat has increased substantially, employers struggling to fill vacancies, houses and properties at hugely inflated all time highs, very few availabilities in the rental market are all taking their toll and we’re being told to brace for up to 100% increases in the price of our gas (propane) and electricity.

Im in a bit of a fortunate position where over the last 5-7 years the wife and I worked our butts off to buy our first house before all of this and stuck to what we can reasonably afford, have gotten myself in to a stable and well paying job and have no debts other than the mortgage but it’s gonna be a real rough ride for a lot of people.

Seems all the very same issues are prevalent across western nations and I’m struggling to comprehend how it’s coincidental or a culmination of COVID impacts and the war in Ukraine. Willing to admit that perhaps my knowledge of the economy, supply chains etc work is lacking although I do have my suspicions.

Prices may come down a little but nice lots /acerage is always in demand in the Rockies. .38 of an acre for 30k......whoa!!!

at least with my Texas property you can raise a nice garden, plenty of water and all the tornados you can eat. Well under 10k.. double wide heaven.

My daughter works for a Credit Union in Denver processing loans. The loan department is sitting around twiddling their thumbs... they have only had 4 vehicle loan applications in the past week.

On top of the signs of the recession setting in, they are worrying about the coming layoffs.

Tell her to hold on to that job until she's laid off if she wants a short vacay with income.

I make lists and add items that catch my interest as a purchase but not a repeat consumable purchase. Magically they all go down in price over time except speciality tools.

Nope. Stores are full of shoppers here in the South. People go on family vacations in June as soon as school is out. By mid July everyone will be spending on back to school clothes and supplies. College kids buy household items. Also four million people still want houses. There are no houses hardly for sale here. They are building homes as fast as possible. Gas is around $4.29 in our state. You are wrong. The gas being high is probably about the extreme heat going on. A bunch of cows died out west. It's been over 100 F for several days this June in the South. Very hot year on record. People need to drive less and more responsibly.

Rolling empty shelves. Haven't seen Milky Way candy bars on the shelves for about 3 months. Gas stations have banded together to offer same prices on gas ($5+). 36 mile commute to town (very small town), Okeechobee FL. Cattle ranches and milk farms, along with chicken farmers are all driving new $100k pickup trucks along with the bee farmers. Citrus industry nonexistent. They're bringing grapefruit from CA and lemons from S. America. Only thing grown locally on shelves is cabbage at $3 /lb. Haven't seen local lettuce, tomato, cucumber or potatoes in 3 years. DeSantis is trying to get all the Unemployment given out, back. I've actually seen people on the side of the road picking up cigarette butts to smoke. Tons and tons of help wanted signs yet no one is taking applications. Easier for companies to take gov't subsidies than hire, I've heard. Tons of gov't fraud going on with the farmers. I actually heard a local produce shop owner screaming at the state on his phone that he didn't get his Paycheck Protection money... while driving 2 brand new vehicles and new engines for his pleasure airboats, plus he put a new addition on his property, a $200k garage to house his bass boat, 2 RV Motorhomes, 2 airboats, a new Kubota tractor with a/c and thousands of dollars worth of tools. He has 7 employees and annual sales of less than $10k, but yet he claimed a loss of $2.4 million -yes, million to the state for losses. I caught him hiring and firing the next week so he could claim higher than actual employees, but the state won't prosecute. So, there's that. LOTS of drug busts in the local news. Whores are walking up and down the highways and I actually see them miles from town in the "suburbs". But the illegals are all in new cars and trucks with multiple children and babies in tow. Good times. Quite a few suicides by car wrecks and walking out into traffic. Agenda 21 or 2030 or whateverthef#ck is complete. Just waiting for the jackboots to come. Sheriff's department has gone left. It's the Wild Wild East here. Everyone is carrying, permit or not.
