Diggin' the Thirties -SN2022- ...writer

He had done his work in history. But history had some work to do on him.

This was a battlefield once, he thought.

Before him, a remnant of a trench with a small berm.

Had I fired my rifle in this place, my spent shells would have landed -here-.

And so, he poked around a bit with a large stick.

A centimeter or so down, three 7.9-mm shells.
