The execution, from beginning to expensive end, was Blair and Mandelson's.

Blair became PM in 1997, just remind me what year the idea of The Dome wa first conceived, and which Political Party was in power.

Nice try though.

It was built to inaugurate/celebrate the millennium Whodathunkdatcheese.

What do you imagine gets built in London to facilitate the population that does not have some form of political undertone?

Also what gets built in London that's not ridiculously expensive and/or rather pretentious in this day of age?

The place has lasted 22 years and was only supposed to stand for 1, that's an achievement, in itself if you ask me, politics or otherwise.

Who the heck names these things?

Les Dawson or someone?

I'll have to think a bit for those two. A two vape problem.

Eunice, Dudley, Franklin and Gladys.

The more I think about it, the more it looks like a guest list for a dinner party themed episode of Last of the Summer Wine.

I can picture them all running around trying to use table ware to catch dripping water coming through the ceiling after the wind tears off a load of roof tiles.

Then escaping downhill in a high speed bath tub on wheels.

Another storm tonight, what I want to know is which bloody airline was serving beans and can we get them to pay for the damages.

This one is called Storm Franklin and shall hit sometime around midnight but they have only issued amber warnings for this one.

Here in Wiltshire the wind is gusting just as bad as Eunice but with added heavy rain.

I think Franklin arrived a little early, it was like driving through a combination of Eunice and Dudley!
Eunice stopped me dead in my tracks on Friday, a small tree across the road just a few hundred yards from my cottage.

We've had patchy rain and fair to middling winds so far all day. Went out this morning but didn't get too wet.

This has to be the most British thread on ATS for a while...

Three pages talking about the weather!

Has anyone waited politely in any long queues lately?

Well, I did go "Tut, tut" under my breath.....

Was feeling a bit miffed, too, if I'm honest.

These uncontrollable outbursts must be attributed to storm hysteria.

See that the Doctor finds you a large brandy and we'll not raise the matter again.

Sincere apologies.

I shall immediately retire to my drawing room, pour self a stiff brandy, open desk drawer and contemplate the loaded Webley revolver sitting there.

Before doing the decent thing, old boy.

Sorry for the late reply, yes it got pretty bad here too certainly stronger for us than Eunice was but we are a good ways from the coast (16 to 18 miles or so I would guess perhaps closer as the crow flies) though so we never get the brunt even though it is pretty flat between here and Southport which is the closest probably we are to the coast.

But for those that live on the coast itself even a mild gale can feel like a storm with the south west and the north east probably bearing the worst of our weather over time.
