We are all peers

Cheers to my fellow atsers and what are the odds of us all existing together in this particular space and time?
When one considers all the factors which led to us all being here now, it boggles the mind

How many thousands of our predecessors had to survive long enough to generate and nurse the next generation (about 7500 of them);
how many close calls were averted to ensure our collective survival?
Have you ever thought about how many perfect conditions had to have been met for us all to inhabit this moment in time...

When I lose touch with the wonder I once knew, I consider such improbabilities and am grateful for this beautiful life.

We're all in this together; life is a precious marvel, and if hope fails remember: We've already beat all odds.

I see what you're saying, can't see it at all atm though. I'm just wishing for that odd chance of luck that a meteorite strikes earth and ends it

I needed to hear this right now. Normally, I take this approach but these last years have worn me down at times in ways I'm not used to. I am prepared but every now and then looking at all the things I've been working on and it just seems pointless.

As my mom always says, where there's life, there's hope.

I needed it too. It makes me happy to know the message which just kind of randomly came to me helped you as well. I like your mom's optimism.

So we would be the ones who are fearlessly facing what too many avoided? (End of Days,End of Mayan Calender, Raptured, hundred kinds of doom-porn)

Wait...not sure we comprehended our actual future enough!!
I want a do-over!!!
Nowhere in the literature was living in face masks mentioned as part of the end of the world!!!
Was there a face-mask quatrain or Edgar Cayce prediction we missed??

Cool Thread Z

Seems that my ancestors all survived or I would not be here. That means they had decent immune systems and they survived some harsh times.

My father got shot plus had shrapnel in him from a bomb and was captured and imprissoned in a Nazi prison camp for many months. Thanks to a farmer he was sent to work on the farm for by the Nazis, he survived. They talked the guards into keeping him in the barn so he could heal, then he was returned to the camp maybe three days later. He worked at that farm crippled for the days and was nursed at night there by them. I do not know how long he worked at that farm, but they knew he grew up on a farm and felt they needed to help him. Not all Germans were bad. He contacted them back in the sixties to tell them he survived and had a family and it led to many letters being sent back and forth. I have some of those letters yet.

I was born after that, if he had died I would not have been born. Neither would any of my kids or grandkids or nephews or brother. Always remember that we were given a chance to experience this reality no matter how unreal it seems to be.

Yeah, it's deep! Against incalculable odds we are alive at this very time (if there is such a thing as time.)

Considering the existential & cosmic crossroads we seem to be facing--together whether we like it or not--it does seem like we're here for a reason.

Not letting our hearts & love grow cold will be both the challenge of humanity and yet the only possible victory. Great thread.

Agreed with GUT that we need to keep our hearts full of warmth and courage. Reading these comments is a great help in that regard; thank you!

I am content, and I love my fellow man.

THEN I go outside in public...and realize how terribly mistaken I was, and how much more I love my dog!!

(J/K...sort of).

ETA - Earthlings, you suck!

LOL!

I think at this every winter, when I am outside in the dark and look up to the stars. Mostly because I dislike the cold..brrr. Then I marvel about how cold and deadly the universe is, and even here on Earth, without special clothes, a way to make fire and shelter we humans would die just over night outside.

Trying to imagine the struggles of past generation that defeated death long enough to give the next generation a better start than before. It does not depress me though since winter is the time of death and rest, the time of the Crone so it is all needed for balance.

Have you ever thought about how many perfect conditions had to have been met for us all to inhabit this moment in time...

More than once a week. I do this for things also, objects. It's always the same, beginning with raw materials, that are shaped and formed into tools and produce, that then again allow better conditions and for some people it's the whole existence that relies on this principle. And some live for it, making the conditions rely on them, the true masters.

On a beautiful spring day I may be most aware of these special moments in time. When the warm sun hit's my face, I hear birds, smell the nature and feel the warm breeze on my skin, my eyes see the green of nature and it's shapes... then all senses are firing and if my loved ones are around, healthy and happy that is the most serenity and peace I can imagine.

It's like then my heart is filled with helium, so light and uplifting.

Love & Hugs

Hey Zosimov!

We're all in this together; life is a precious marvel, and if hope fails remember: We've already beat all odds.

I couldn't agree more nobody said life is going to be easy but there's definitely comfort in knowing we all come from a long line of survivors.

For billions of years since the outset of time
Every single one of your ancestors survived
Every single person on your mum and dad's side
Successfully looked after and passed onto you life
What are the chances of that, like?
It comes to me once in a while
And everywhere I tell folk, it gets the best smile

It's something I've come to think about a lot and not just humans, most lifeforms on earth have hit genetic bottlenecks in their past yet we still have all this variety and wonder. If given half a chance life does more than survive.

There's plenty of hope out there you just have to find it. I guess sometimes it's a perception thing too especially when you consider the odds. We all stand on the shoulders of giants.

Glad you enjoyed! I hadn't heard it for a while, bit it popped in my head when I read TAT's post, thought it was also relevant to some of the negative view posts as well.
