I faced that dilemma of entertaining or believing when I was young, though I called it ''objective'' investigation or ''subjective'' investigation. I understood somehow that a simple ''objective investigation '' would not suffice and that a more immersive '' subjective investigation'' would be needed to ascertain the belief system I was being presented with.

I chose that immersive system. Belief did not come naturally. It took the practice of exercising the protocols and practices of that belief to get to the level of belief. Brainwashing myself in the belief system.Thinking and acting ''as if'' I believed. Fortunately I had already had my own Cartesian experience and so, when all those juggling balls of truth that had been swirling around my mind finally got to be such a chaotic conundrum that my only recourse was to fall back on that Cartesian certainty.

Being an acrobat of different perspectives is a nice way of putting it. I kind of look at it as a surfer of perspectives. I'll ride one wave for a while until it peters out and then catch another. Often they overlap with one leading to another. I try as best I can to not catch one that will end up saying no to the next, you know what I mean?

There definitely is an ocean we are swimming in, surfing in. How big and how deep we can only guess because we are still in the shallow waters.

And oh yes, there are circles around us and how we dare to venture out of our own little ones is how much we come to see it. I like the ven diagram a lot in understanding these manners of being we hold in common.

But that's propaganda-talk! Anarchy doesn't mean no rules! It means self-government, where everybody follows the same set of basic rules.
Isn't that all the authority one needs?
And because all political systems have proven they need oversight, 'we have the last word' in a democratic system, combined with experts, real experts and competent people are in office.
Imagine the military would be run like we run our countries?
Because they're not chosen by a fake disgusting popularity contest every four years.
Now add to that the last word is spoken by those who enforce this # as veto-power, tie-breaker etc.
And even me as Anarchist would say that sounds pretty good.
You know as a first draft
lol

Religion is a cultural technology, just like writing, advanced to story.
The problem is it is dead. At least the last few hundred years it hasn't moved.
I think it at least needs an update and a reboot.
Colourfully put

Follow the flow.
Most people can't even see the waves.

You know you can make that Venn with n-balls. Scary to think the only limitation is our perception.

I think it's totally understandable and human to sometimes scream: where's the limit?

Have bumped-up against this idea many times.

Various explanations from different realms, have been considered : physical, social, ethereal, spiritual, etc...

At some point : one explanation feels more 'right' than the others, then another day, it feels like another potential explanation resonates more.

The Way cannot be said in words.
Infinity cannot be described.
Eternity cannot be named.
Naming is the basis of temporary things.
Without desire there is mystery.
Bound to desire we are trapped in the known.
Mystery and the known are not separate.
It is naming which separates us.
The entry to all understanding lies in this paradox.

Translated by enlightenedbuddha.com (2004)

A rather obscure interpretation of the Tao, perhaps.
Is any interpretation right, or wrong ?

All we know is perception.
Interpretation, experience, this-that-just-is.

We perceive what you are getting-at People, but 'it' appears un-nameable.
And as soon as we try to point at it : there she is : gone !! LoL !!

To chose infinity as limit is something really hard to do. That would mean nothing less than chosing to turn the pyramid on its head.
How dare you.
Instead of zero we use infinity from now on.
Imagine.

Let's
TRY HARDER!
All of us!

The only way out of this is forward! Not falling back on someone else's yesterday's garbage!

There's a simple test: are you sure you are calling the shots here? I mean in terms of 'having found an explanation for everything' that allows you total control over everything we perceive?
If not your religion is broken too.
We live in really interesting times.
High pressure to perform.
We got to figure it out. You know?
We need really god-like powers to turn the reset to our own advantage.
We the people.
I call not fit for office. The souvereign are we the people.
Let's dance.

lol I got a bit carried away.
Point is: the question is not how many 'under you' you command.
But how many 'above you'.

It's not us middle-management humans who have to decide.
But those 'greater intelligences' have to pick the side they're on.
I have befriended at least one. Have you?
Before it's too late. Now.

...my stories tend to go dark too.

Comfort zone lol. Do you have a comfort zone on a roller coaster or maybe a ride at universal? This is not reality. It's simply a construct filled entirely with NPC's, including myself. It is improbable it is anything else, since a deterministic reality construct cannot suffer free will or chaotic activity, it can only accommodate observation.

Blessed be the ignorant. Enjoy your peace.
In your cave.
But even back then in the actual cave you'd have to consider
They had a lot of time they spent thinking.
Sharing stories.
Inventing some to push the horizon.
I bet you from the moment we wanted to express what we think,
we felt the Earth talk.

Just reflect. Watch yourself. Spend some time thinking.
Not Learning. Thinking.

You just stay in the city and I'll stay with the other two families in our 1000 acre compound when SHTF, ok ;-) Just because I see none of this as real doesn't mean that my "character" in the farce of a reality construct/prison doesn't have purpose.

You're provider and protector I take it?
Good for you.

But we're now aiming higher than just protecting 'my turf'
and 'my genes'

So if you want to participate you got to at least be able to entertain stories.

I can so relate to not only your OP but this reply as well.
I constantly struggle with my Swamp Yankee Fisherman Speak here when I type.
It’s almost like switching to another language at times, kinda weird.

Maybe it’s the “Ya Kaint Git Theah Frum Heah” thing…

Infinity, think, wonder, dream.

The best place I’ve found to do this is high atop the deck of a fishing boat, sitting in the cross trees of the main mast.
At night with only the running lights lit the endless universe is everywhere to see except the small, solid deck below me, the one, the only tangible point of my existence. The moonless sky, the stars just take my breath away.
The bottomless black sea all around. I drift about in ways that can’t be imagined unless experienced.
What is real?
When I sit atop the mask at sunrise on a glass sea with a blanket of morning fog hovering over the water to a height of 70 feet and I see only the very tips of masts around me, are there really boats beneath them?
I can’t prove it…..

In my head it was obvious this

Infinity, think, wonder, dream

was meant to say literally let infinity and zero switch.
You know when you imagine a curve or anything with points that become waves if zero approaches infinity...

Like a 3-d+time version of the sinus wave, which also starts with just one dot depending how you look at it.
But t0=0
=

That would # us up completely, right? If that'd be the 'right' way to look at it...
We'd be #ed.
Nobody could do that.
We'd say DUDE!!! There's a gap that's literally infinity! That can't be true!
Wouldn't we?

So it probably isn't really true and another hint that we are very limited in our ability to grasp infinity.
As long as there is time the double helix keeps on turning and infinity is given, but zero can never be reached.
Everything that moves can never reach zero. Or: that 'changes'. A small candle could keep time alive, so it's on the other hand not its physical form, but its infinity potential to keep time going.
So I think Multiverse is in as far worth to consider as it tries an approach from infinity.
As story... it clearly is extremely anthropocentric, so it's probably fiction but ey, right?

What the # do I know?

It is really simple. So simple we have to complicate it to understand it.

What one material thing you possess, that you cannot physically exist without?

We spend the majority of our time on this planet seeking, working, fighting, hoarding, loving, and despising, material things that contaminate our spirits. The only thing we came here with and will leave with.

Our time here is short. Most of it will be wasted, because we spent it accumulating things of no real worth, and neglected the spirit, the only thing we have that has any true worth.

The only thing we came with and will leave with.

We come into this world naked, without anything. We leave this world without anything, and can take nothing with us.

Whatever our purpose is for this journey, I think we missed it.
