Clint Eastwood is back in the saddle staring in and directing Cry Macho , Clint plays a former rodeo star who takes a job to return the son of his ex boss from Mexico in 1979.

From Warner Bros. Pictures come director/producer Clint Eastwood’s uplifting and poignant drama “Cry Macho.” The film stars Eastwood as Mike Milo, a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who, in 1979, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man’s young son home from Mexico. Forced to take the backroads on their way to Texas, the unlikely pair faces an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman finds unexpected connections and his own sense of redemption.

Due for release September 17th.

So it's a road movie but it's a road movie staring Clint Eastwood which in my view makes it an appealing prospect.
Even at 91 he'll still kick your ass with just that look.

I was watching "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" a few nights back which has to be one of my favourite Eastwood movies and Westerns.

Fond memories of his movies growing up, loved him in the "Dirty Harry" films also.

One of the best actors of all time and a not half bad director ta boot.

My Dad(RIP)was a huge Eastwood fan from way back in his Rawhide days. Dad said from then on the man was gonna be a star. We would see all his spaghetti westerns when they were on at the drive-in, but later he just take my brother and I to see the DH movies till the .

The man is so prolific...just counting I've seen 38 of his movies below, 17 of those I would count as the essential Clint Eastwood collection. With Gran Torino being the last one he was the main actor in.

I've always wondered what kind of a movie would entail if Clint Eastwood and William Shatner co-starred in it. Captain Kirk Meets Dirty Harry? The Good, The Bad and the Space Time Continuum? Just throwing things out there...

Blah

The Outlaw Josey Wales was set around 1865. Clint Eastwood was about 46 or so in 1976 when it was made. With him at 91 now, that would set the timeline around 1910. Perfect time to make a Josey Wales follow up movie about the Mexican Border War.

Think the END of Unforgiven with Josey Wales laying waste the whole movie.

That would be awesome!

And Frag some WW1 style Germans in the process... we all loves some historical German killin movies.

en.wikipedia.org...(1910–1919)

The Mexican Border War,[14] or the Border Campaign,[15] refers to the military engagements which took place in the Mexico–United States border region of North America during the Mexican Revolution. The war's time period encompassed World War I, during which Germany attempted to have Mexico attack the United States and engaged in hostilities against American forces there itself.

The Border War was the fifth and final major conflict fought on American soil, where its predecessors were the American Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican–American War (1846–1848) and the American Civil War. The end of the Mexican Revolution on 1 December 1920, marked the close of the American Frontier. The Bandit War[16] in Texas was part of the Border War. From the beginning of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, the United States Army was stationed in force along the border and on several occasions fought with Mexican rebels or federals. The height of the conflict came in 1916 when revolutionary Pancho Villa attacked the American border town of Columbus, New Mexico. In response, the United States Army, under the direction of General John J. Pershing, launched an expedition into northern Mexico, to find and capture Villa. Although Villa was not captured, the US Army found and engaged the Villista rebels, killing Villa's two top lieutenants.

The revolutionary himself escaped and the American army returned to the United States in January 1917. Conflict at the border continued, however, and the United States launched several additional, though smaller operations into Mexican territory until after the American victory in the Battle of Ambos Nogales in August 1918, leading to the establishment of a permanent border wall.[17] Conflict was not only subject to Villistas and Americans; Maderistas, Carrancistas, Constitutionalistas and Germans also engaged in battle with American forces during this period.

I'd always hoped that Easywood would do a Jazz movie. He's a well known Jazz aficionado and I'd love to see his take on the musical Artform known as Jazz

Almost... Perhaps they would have made it into a movie if the real mission had been successful.

Clint Eastwood, William Shatner Funded an Invasion in Laos, 38 Years Ago Today

Clint Eastwood and William Shatner once helped fund a bizarre and futile effort to rescue American POWs believed held in Laos from the Vietnam War.

The story reads like the plot of a movie. They dubbed it Operation Lazarus and the plan was to send in a team of specialists lead by a former American special forces operator named Lt. Col. Bo Gritz (rhymes with fights) to retrieve as many as 120 suspected prisoners of war still being held captive...

That's fantastic!

Clint is one of my favourite actors. Apart from his mannerisms and the stern composure he's given so many of his characters, my wife and I have some connections that entwine with his career.

My wife's grandfather was a horse master and stunt double for many Golden Hollywood actors, including Charlton Heston and Clint Eastwood. He basically worked in all the Spaghetti Westerns alongside many fine actors, teaching many to ride a horse for the first time.

On my side, more specifically on my father's side of the family, we had an actor who worked with Clint in the Dirty Harry movies. I can't say his name for want of giving away half of my own identity...

It was called 'Space Cowboys'

I know Shatner's not in that, but if he was gonna be in a Clint movie, it should have been 'Space Cowboys'.

Movie industry is finished. More and more people would rather watch an interesting podcast. There is no way I could sit through this movie and I like Clint Eastwood.

I wouldn't.

Regardless, it's not an either/or. You're allowed to watch both, movies and podcasts.
