Been Away for a Decade

I found myself back on this site after years off. Did I miss anything? lol
Since the early 2010's Ive become and engineer, hacker, and project manager. Lots of good experiences to add to these great discussions.

I look forward to seeing what the site has become. Does anyone have any threads they recommend? I am not talking about the "top" or the flame war threads. I am talking about hidden gems or your own thread that didn't get the attention you wanted.

I came back because I fondly remember my experiences on this site and I got into an old yahoo email I thought was dead long ago.

2012, nothing happened. A few elections, some stuff happened.

I am happy I missed some elections. This board always gets odd around elections.

The best of the best posters left and many were banned long ago. Things have changed a lot, it seems the whole Above Top Secret them is really gone. It has been mainly political bickering for years now actually, I left to but returned when we hit the announced NWO GREAT REST! Hoping to keep up on any changes as we are led IMHO into the end times promised by our Creator!

the site is largely the same, the "mud pit" has added some entertainment that was missing. Site was sold, so far, it seems to still function. We lost some great ones, and gained some good ones.

Welcome back, I remember your screen name actually. I hope you are into politics, because the site is now dominated by politics and the political opinions of a hand full of the most active users. Depending which way you lean, you have rediscovered heaven or will quickly remember why you left.

ATS is still pretty much ATS. With the added bonus of the world's current insanity being the prevalent topics of conversation. Still plenty of good threads that popup though. You may have to sift if you get tired of hearing about the war between Biden and America though.

From a non-American perspctive;

The failure of 2012 (already mentioned) had the effect that people stopped writing threads about any kind of "mysterious" subjects.
Except that "Religion, Faith and Theology" is still going strong, especially now that most of the anti-religious trolls have given up.

Once Trump was elected, all the left-wingers abandoned the site in a huff, coming back from time to time to complain that only right-wingers were making any posts (whose fault is that?). Most of ATS now believes that the Biden election was fraudulent.

As a result of these developments, nearly eveybody in ATS is either taking part in political threads or complaining that ATS is nothing but political threads.

But you can still find a refuge in "Religion, Faith and Theology".

Yes there was a thread by a member here made years ago. The member was announcing his trip to a cave. Talked about his equipment he's taking, promised ATS he/she that they'd post pictures of the Caving..... that member disappeared, tha was the last thread or post they ever made. Only 3 4 pages and other ATS members assumed the worst too. Love to find that thread.
