Loved him since I was at school, circa age 19. Great lyrics and great songwriting partners

Been on a playlist kick today with all his albums I have.

vimeo.com...

I read his novel. It was quite bad but also quite terribly interesting at the same time

Can't say I'm a fan as such but I do like his singing style and the way he writes , he is to song writing what Alan Bennett was to play writing.

I think This Charming Man is my favourite , Johnny Marr FTW.

Can't stand his music or the man. Guy lives on a cloud of his own self aggrandised ego.

That also may be true but I like the music

Notice I said may.

If you were a musician you would maybe appreciate the writing.

You don't need to be a musician to appreciate writing. Just not my taste, hiding debauchery behind metaphors doesn't constitute good poetry imo. We get it, he's sad and lonely and the big bad world is to blame for everything.

His early stuff with The Smiths was absolutely brilliant, equal credit going to Johnny Marr's amazing guitar work. Still enjoy some of his more recent stuff, it's not got the same humor though.
