Most people don't know where soccer/football came from.

Association football ...the "soc" was soccer and is a British term.
Even Australia calls it soccer.

Rugby football was the origin of American football.

So both are correct.

That being said...

Because the ''royals'' fit nicely into the fantasy world of ''pop culture''. Of ''celebrity culture''. They mesh with the fantasies that were and are piped into children though American movies like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.

Check out the movies that are used as baby sitters for little girls. Plop them down in front of ''Moana'' day after day to baby sit them from age 1 onward. It's all fantasy that is pumped into us.
