I thought History's "Project Blue Book" was fairly entertaining, with some good acting and decent special effects, but it definitely took some significant liberties with the historical facts.

Season two is set to premiere on January 21, at 10 PM. It looks like they're doing a few shows on The Roswell Incident, as well as on Area 51.

Also, Ksenia Solo is back playing Russian spy, Suzie Miller, for some much appreciated eye candy.

I look forward to the second season.
I loved the first season.
The acting is good, and I know
the official stories are theatricized,
but it is neat that they add a short
about the original file.
I find the whole Soviet/Numbers Station
angle quite interesting.
Thanks for the trailer link!
S&F and Seasons Greetings!

I have the DVR set. Now if only Unidentified would get their act together and give us another season.

Thanks for the heads up Shaw. I really enjoyed the first season. Great wintertime show to follow. I know most of it is probably BS. But it sure is entertaining! Ksenia is ummm, awe inspiring! 🤤

Decently entertaining from an X-Files perspective....but completely off-base from real history.

Ahhh Kenzi, single handedly responsible for the raging success of the Russian bride industry.

I watched Season 1 and really wanted to like it. It's not that it's bad, it's just not as good as it could have been. In most episodes, the blue book cases are not the focus. Instead we get troubled domestic life, russian spies, and hints of a much bigger conspiracy a la X-Files.

In my opinion, our two heroes have no chemistry at all. I couldn't wait for scenes with the wife and russian spy to be over so they could get back to the investigation. Also, the constant music soundtrack was too loud and distracting for my taste. I really can't put my finger on it, but the whole thing just seems too polished and over-produced. Like a plastic version of the 1940's.

I will probably give season two a chance. Hopefully they've tweaked some things for the better.

Been looking forward to this since season 1 ended!

Plus I liked the sub-plot of the russian spy lady, and mrs. Hynek.

No....no no no no no.....NO! This was totally gratuitous towards the LBGTQ community.... While I would normally have no problem with that, set in this time period and circumstance, it doesn't fit and made for awkward television. It detracted from the show and was unnecessary. Poor writing to check a box for political gain.

I really like the first season.
Hopefully they keep up the good work.

I like how they also say during the commercial breaks, which UFO event was the inspiration of that episode.

Well that seems to be the norm now.
Pandering to appease loud mouths.
If there wasn’t a gay scene, some degenerate would be screaming on the internet how the show is anti gay.

This is a good show, based on actual incidents, worthy of a second season in my opinion. I will be watching.

The twists and spins they put on real history makes it fiction, as far as validity goes.
So, if you like sci-fi, that is what it is.

Made for entertainment only as the real information would make it rather boring.

After the inevitable reactions of "Wait... What?!" to some of the outrageous distortions of real-life cases, once I realised that this is basically pure Sci-Fi that is very loosely 'inspired' by true events (and not to be taken seriously), I thought it was good entertainment.

The way they treated the 1961 Betty and Barney Hill case was the most bizarre of all - shifting the date back to 1952 may have been the reason for eliminating the inter-racial element (making Mrs Hill a black wife), but turning Barney into a gun-wielding desperado was hilarious, bewildering but ultimately quite fun, underlining this is as a genuine 'Alternative History' show for the History Channel.

The Russian angle concerning Hynek's wife is pure time-filler, though, and a tedious distraction better suited to a spin-off series.

I liked the sub plots and the blonde Russian spy. This is just entertainment after all.

Well Episode 1 of Season 2 was fun to watch, especially with the way it was produced, with all the bright highlights and scenery that is hard to tell if it is real or not. But it is like they take the real story and turn it around and leave it on its side. I suppose they have to change all the names, but why the details? I mean the towns people did not say Brazil got a new car a few days later after everything was over with, they say he got a new truck. Which of course everyone knew he did not have money for. Meaning the military shut him up with a nice new shinny present.

I am loving season 2 thus far. Tomorrow night deals with a possible abduction and its also involving area 51.

The Betty & Barney Hill episode from Season 1 definitively put paid to any future expectations of historical accuracy for this series - not a bad idea in terms of entertainment value, although that episode seemed to twist things TOO far - making Barney a gun-toting hostage taker was hilarious, but why did they shy away from depicting a mixed marriage (even if the incident was shifted back nine years to 1952)?

[EDIT: Just realised I'd already mentioned the B&B ep some time ago in this thread] Otherwise, the general flavour and overt fictionalisation works well. Eg, the outrageously inaccurate depiction of the 1952 Washington flyover during the Season 1 finale was infinitely more exciting than watching people staring at radar screens.

In comparison, the cheesy late-70s drama series 'Project UFO' seems like a straight-faced documentary.

By the end of Season 2, will the gentle-minded Hynek end up as Ufology's version of Dirty Harry?
