They should be, if they meet the criteria

Protected Disclosure refers to the release of information made by a Federal employee, contractor, or military member to an authorized recipient. The information shared is believed to pertain to a violation of law, rule, or regulation; gross mismanagement; gross waste of funds; abuse of authority; or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety.

If they aren't the whole idea behind it is shot.

We already saw it. Well if its like the Mueller report some of us have seen it.
But its not an online form.
This was handled very carefully and fully by the book because of the very seriousness of the complaint.

Not if a report can be as informal as a conversation.
This form is just one way to make a report of wrongdoing.
You can call someone, you can write a letter, you can go directly to congress if you want to according to the rules set up for this purpose.
It seems like you guys are grasping at straws looking for any reason for this report to go back into that folder and never be mentioned again.

You don't seem to understand. The IG knows who the whistleblower is. The complaint was not anonymous.

The Complainant's identity is known to me. As allowed by law, however, the Complainant has requested that the ICIG not disclose the Complainant' s identity at this time. For your information, the Complainant has retained an attorney, identifed the attorney to the ICIG, and requested that the attorney be the Complainant's point of contact in subsequent communications with the congressional intelligence committees on this matter.

The identities of some of the sources used by the complainant were provided to the IG and it seems you're not clear on the context of the MSM references.
