Singer Ric Ocasek of the Cars Dead at 75

Hard to believe he was 75. Anyway, I enjoyed his music with the Cars.

Very sad. I always liked The Cars. One of the oddities of that band is that Rick did not sing on most of their hits.

They had a great song about a guy on a boat.

I don't think the baby boomers are living as long as their parents. Boomers partied a little too hard with a little too many drugs. I just find it amazing how many people don't live past 75.

Sad news
He was actually 70 though. Not sure why it's being reported he was 75.

Nah, youre thinking of my generation. We had better drugs, Headbangers Ball, and 3 wheelers. Gen X is the best generation. We didnt have 157 genders or too many TV channels. We didnt need Kardashians or microbrewery beer. We ruined our kids and dont give a damn either... cause we dont remember a lot of it. At least we are fun grandparents. Regrets? Tramp stamps, padded shoulders, bitch flip hairdo, and parachute pants..

Oh Yeah, and Rick. Goofy lookin dude, lotsa talent.

Speaking of GEn X, I read years ago that Rick was working with Billy Corrigan of the Smashing Pumpkins on their stuff. Believe he got out of performing years ago and was more of a consultant.

The man was a master song writer. The lyrics were so basic, like more than Tom Petty basic but it just worked. You can't help but sings those damn songs at some point no matter who you are.

Paulina Porizkova was married only once (to Rick) and didn't divorce him. They were separated, but she is said to have still loved him. She is the one that found him dead in his apartment.

Awww shooot....Was a huge Cars fan as I kid....First 2 records are still so good.

I am still sad over losing Ben Orr (who was the better singer).

But overall, a band that was ahead of their time in so many ways.

RIP Ric Ocasek.

WTH??!! Awwwww.....

I have very fond memories of learning a whole bunch of The Cars’ song in my friend’s garage. Just What I Needed, Moving in Stereo, Good Times Roll, h3ll, their first 2 albums (the bassist was the lead singer and only started playing bass after Rick kicked out half the band!).

For helping me learn how to play rock and roll, the entire band will always have a special place in my heart!!

RIP Rik.
