It was a simple vessel to highlight the nature of the misogyny and predatory nature of the human male

It was a reflection of the social standards of its time just as TNG was.
TOS =Thugs in space.
TNG = Social workers in space.

They both have their merits but Piccard was the better Captain.

It is marketing..

It was a space opera fantasy built for the most economically robust demographic at the time...

Which in America was white men...

The point of Star Trek is you were supposed to want to be Kirk....a lazy way to make your audience put themselves in the shoes of the protagonist is to make the protagonist as similar to the audience as possible..

TNG wasn’t just made for white men in 1970s America lol..

The spending power was no longer solely with one group.

So TNG they wanted you to want to be a member of the crew, not Picard specifically..

I see way more story telling mechanics and marketing than racism.

He's british......

Picard was French.

Same thing, though.

The difference between picard and kirk.....

Is the difference between a legitimate mission of exploration and a roaming prison ship raping the galaxy.....

Hardly.

I'm not so sure Picard would have terrified Klingon commanders like Kirk did.

They were both great captains for their time, given the conditions in the galaxy during that time.

Picard wouldn't have been a successful captain in Kirk's time, and Kirk would have been drummed out of Starfleet during Picard's time.

Picard is French, but speaks with a British accent...

I like to think it is because England took over France sometime before the Earth had a united government in Trek.
