This is the weirdest peculiarity i find myself experiencing in recent years.

It boggles me cause the timing is so precise. And also that sometimes its a bogus number calling and when I answer its silent.

The tone lasts for only 3-4 seconds and then immediately after my smartphone will ring - with either a real call or sometimes a ghost call like from +12345678etc

It's a Oneplus 6, as I don't support apple nor svmsung since the past decade or so.

I'm currently waiting on arrival of its upgrade, the nebula blue to see if this still continues..

Tinfoil. Helmet.

Most of us here on ATS wear them, though, none of us will actually admit it...

I’m willing to bet a lot of people have experienced this.
I know I have.
I remember sitting in the living room - no tv on, while reading with my wife.
I heard that tone in my ear and just as I finished saying “phones for you” the phone rings, my wife gets up and it’s her mom.
I heard the tone, so I knew it was about to ring, but it was just a complete guess that it was for her.

She looked at me with a bewildered look on her face as she answered the phone.
I was smiling, because really - it was purely, 100%, a lucky guess that it was for her.

Once she was off the phone she asked how the hell I knew that.
And I told her there's an audible sound that happens before the phone rings.
I just happened to be on the ball with the timing when I blurted it out that it was going to be for her.

I dont think she can hear it.
Because there have been many times when I pointed it out.

BTW this is with a cordless phone - not a cell.

I have that for the kitchen timer, I get the urge to go there NOW and then the timer starts to beep.

It got better over the years but I remember that some stereos or loudspeaker would pick up the signal before the phone rang. Maybe you all really hear that tone and something is picking it up and making it audible through a speaker.

Maybe your house is all bugged up? That would be my first guess, you are being spied on (now panic).

A few years ago i was reading about several people who experienced this phenomenon. For the life of me, I dont remember where...
There was a study (unsure of the legitimacy of the study) and the conclusion I read was that some people are able to hear the extremely high frequencies (which is allegedly impossible) that cordless phones and mobile phones operate on pending certain environmental conditions. Some people were able to even hear tones before texts and emails.
As far as the strange numbers registering on your Id, possibly they are test signals from your service provider as I have received them before.
Just some thoughts...
One thing I do remember from this article was them saying that most of the people who experienced this suffered from Tinnitus, how ever that didnt seem to explain how they were able to correctly predict incoming calls.

I do not have Tinnitus, but I have experienced “exploding Head Syndrome” since I was a child.
It’s a legitimate thing surprisingly.
It’s when your sleeping and are woken up by audible hallucinations.
For me it’s either the sound of a stack of dishes being dumped into the kitchen sink, or someone screaming something.
Scares the living hell out of me every time.

Spidey-sense for incoming calls? Pretty tame as far as super powers go, and difficult to find a cool superhero name to go with it. All joking aside, like the sounds you used to hear through a speaker before a phone ringing, do you have any filings or other metallic dental work? Those sometimes pick up radio frequencies. Could be the incoming signal before the cell rings.

Don't you remember the interference cell phones used to cause to speakers? I used to pull my phone out of my pocket routinely before it rang. It has been about ten years though. I think it is something with the radio frequency/radiation that your body can detect. Also used to get the phantom vibrations where my phone would be in my pocket, or hear my ringtone when its not ringing.. I think it has subsided due to the higher frequencies used now. Low frequencies react with our body and brain in a much more tangible way.
