I just watch an interesting documentary talking about what is wrong with the modern diet. I was very close to someone who died from breast cancer. In the video, there is a woman diagnosed with really bad breast cancer. She did not have her breasts removed. She beat the cancer with diet. The doctors called her the "miracle woman" but she doesn't think it's that big of a miracle but just good science.

There were people in the video who no longer needed to take insulin. And there were two people with autism who were greatly helped by the diet.

For people with health issues I recommend the video. You will save money on medications.

I didn't watch the video....but.....

I do believe that the bulk of human health problems have to do with what we ingest(and what we choose not to).

So I wouldn't disagree with the premise.

Eat local, eat "farm to table" no need for "vegan" heavily processed foods. It doesn't matter what you eat, as long as it has the fewest steps from nature into your own body.

That's what nature intended and it's what is obviously(logically) the best for you.

That wasn't exactly what the video was saying on how diet affected cancer cells.

So what was the "magic pill" that she ate?

I'm for damn sure it wasn't heavily processed "fresh" ingredients brought into her urban #hole form thousands of miles away.

I'm being serious, my tone aside.

I spent a minute watching that 2 minute video(skipping through, obviously) it was jump cut after jump cut talking about "processed food".

Really don't see how my initial "blind" response was inaccurate. That video expanded on NONE of my previous conceived notions.

They claimed cancer cells thrive on a high carb or high sugar diet. It took me a while to find it because I could not remember the term. But the woman who beat cancer was on a Katogenic diet. It's like Atkins on steroids (bad analogy since steroids may cause cancer):

Ketogenic diet

Cool, but you referenced a "documentary" in your op that consisted of a 2 minute video that was a #ty "trailer" to apparently what you watched.

Might be best to actually link to the actual doc in the future. That video conveyed nothing about anything.

That was the trailer. I watched the full length video off of Netflix.

Yes , it has been known for some time now .
High glucose levels lead to a higher chance of cancer , and the spread
In a few cases , cancer can be sent into remission by strict dieting .
However , remission does not necessarily mean no cancer.

I got to talk to WHO specialists about 5 years ago on this topic .
Didnt need a video
I am glad you posted this thread , though.

Well...this isn't a netflix forum, it's ATS. I didn't see any mention of that in your OP.

In the future, you should provide more information in you OP so people know the message you are trying to discuss/convey.

OP aside, I think most people have been aware of the "pitfalls" of what some of us would call "city" food.

Avoid overly processed meats and grains. A lot of non city people take it for granted.

But when you are getting your food from people within 30 miles(and not 1000's of miles away, that came from people 20 miles away but was sent out and processed and sent back to your urban #hole), you had the knowledge of it being "healthy".

It doesn't seem like such a "teachable" moment to most of us.

Sad times....sad times...

When I was treated years ago, I sat beside some women who were shocked that they had cancer because they ate healthy diets and exercised, didn't work in an unhealthy environment at work or anything. So this doesn't seem to help everyone. And these days, even healthy foods are genetically modified. The air we breathe, the food we eat everything is screwed up. Don't mean to be a negative Nelly, but we don't exactly live in the best of times.

Please stop with the off-topic post. The video was NOT about whatever it is you are talking about or promoting.

Not being a "d-bag" ...

Just expecting to be provided with the necessary details you wish to discuss, outside of engaging a third party. You should have summed up the doc in a few paragraphs so those without netflix could engage in the discussion.

ETA: I think that's a fair expectation.

I think the video was meant for people who are on unhealthy diets. What is amazing is the 4 or 5 people go through health wise after six weeks on the recommended diet.

The purpose of this thread is very simple. I lost someone who was very close to me who died from breast cancer. I have never heard how a specific diet could actually be used to treat breast cancer. The woman in the video did not have her breasts chopped off which I found astounding. The person dear to me had both breast removed. But she died anyway. Very sad.

So I just found this video interesting and amazing. I wish I knew about it 10 years ago!

That's understandable. If i were in your position years ago I'd think that the OP would take more time to impart knowledge onto us than just posting a trailer to a video that some of us don't have the means to pay money to access(netflix membership).

I'm sorry for your loss.

I study research on food and medicines and hack pharmaceuticals. To make a pharma drug you need to know what is deficient or excessive in the metabolism, that can be corrected with dietary changes most times. Everyone's metabolism is different, so everyone makes more or less of enzymes or enzymes whose creation might be triggered to form differently. Some foods inhibit enzymes, others promote enzyme production. Some foods seem unrelated but have a shared chemistry. So excess chemistry can become a problem which might lead to a lowering of another metabolite. It is complex but it can be figured out what is possibly causing the problem.

There are multiple types of breast cancer, each having a different dietary moderation to keep it from turning into cancer. They find out what kind it is when they do tests, then they choose the medicine. Too bad that you couldn't know your susceptibility ahead of time so you could adjust your diet so you wouldn't get it. Choosing the right way to fight cancer when it is tiny is the key to not getting cancer. That could be done with diet. But what my research shows does not match what they tell people about foods that prevent cancer, too much cruciferous veggies can lower the thyroid hormone working right, which lowers people's ability to fight cancer too. All cruciferous veggies are not the same either, some are better than others for fighting cancer, and preperation method is also important. The cheapest mushroom, the button mushroom, the one that is rocket fuel based blocks estrogen and is helpful for some but not all kinds of breast cancer too. There are a half dozen different ways to get rid of breast cancer, appigenen and lutinen in some veggies are good for fighting breast cancer, some veggies are very high in it.

Proper application of the research is critical and one shoe fits all does not work.

Both my brothers are doctors. Both have had/have cancer. Both have watched their diets all their lives and each have taken different approaches in treating their cancer. They do support one another and share info and each are in different trials. Neither feels their approach is especially right for the other. We are just hoping for the best. Wish I felt better about the possible outcomes. They say there are no known cures.
