ADIFO Aircraft Will Probably Be Mistaken For A UFO In The Not To Distant Future

We already have hundreds, if not thousands, of reported UFO sightings worldwide, that have turned out to be nothing more than drones, flares, balloons or military aircraft. It won't be long, until we add the ADIFO, a disc-shaped aircraft, to the list of misidentified objects. This prototype aircraft is currently being developed and tested in Romania, by a "senior scientist at Romania's National Institute for Aerospatial Research, and former Head of Theoretical Aerodynamics at the National Aviation Institute." So, what does ADIFO stand for?

ADIFO, or the All-DIrectional Flying Object, is a flying machine designed "to change the actual paradigm of flight," according to engineer and inventor Razvan Sabie. Sabie worked with accomplished aerodynamicist Iosif Taposu (Senior Scientist at Romania's National Institute for Aerospatial Research, and former Head of Theoretical Aerodynamics at the National Aviation Institute) to develop the concept, and has built a working prototype with a 1.2-meter (3.9-ft) diameter for testing.

At low speeds, this craft will act like a quadcopter drone and at high speeds, it can use two jets on it's backside to provide horizontal thrust. ADIFO can fly upside down, will be capable of supersonic speeds (without producing a sonic boom) and will eventually be "built into a single or multi-seat manned aircraft with a hybrid electric/jet propulsion system."

While the prototype is obviously unmanned and radio controlled, the ADIFO team claims it has the potential to democratize supersonic flight if it gets built into a single or multi-seat manned aircraft with a hybrid electric/jet propulsion system. It'll be interesting to see how the team builds pilot visibility into the mix, and what sort of control scheme you'll need to handle the flying saucer's variety of flight modes and control options.

Check out the video at this link, showing the ADIFO in flight! Maybe the guy who developed the show The Jetsons had a vision of this technology becoming a reality, lol.

Instantly comes to mind "Foo Fighters". This would be the real thing. Imagine the "dog fights" they will have! Militarily these would be very handy as fighter jets and missiles.

Thanks for sharing.

Commercial and private aircraft,

the moon,

Stars and planets.

Birds and insects and other flying animals.

The list is endless and could even be a shoe thrown in the air and witnessed by someone from the right perspective and distance to claim what they saw was a UFO when it was a person down the block throwing their show in the air.

This disc aircraft will most likely be observed by those ignorant to its existence as an alien/ET craft.

Thirdphaseofthemoon and other YouTube channels will get many more views due to their sensational titles and UFOlogy will be were it was decades ago and still is today, nowhere but a place to divide believers and skeptics while feeding our minds with topics of interest.

It would interesting if its dynamics of flight at the claimed speeds would be the same as a smaller model or if the aerodynamic design would need to be changed for a manned craft.

Could be something built to cover for the real thing in the future, Weather balloons just arn't working anymore. Interesting they choose the shape of the flying saucer, is that because they learned from the real thing that its practical or what?

Just as long as there aren’t any lights. One thing I’ve never understood...why do people think an inter galactic civilization capable of such technology is going to seemingly adhere to FAA regulations.

They could be law abiding aliens

Didn't say welcome in your intro thread, so welcome

Many things such a popular movies like Close encounters could implant that idea in ones mind about lights

YouTube videos of someone filming and zooming in on Venus or any other bright celestial object to create an object that looks diamond shaped and glowing all sorts colors.

there is a lot of deception and either intentional or unintentional ignorance that makes the subject a head F### to try and work out.

Best is to view individual cases and try not making comparisons or using innuendo while trying to be as precise as possible when explaining or discussing the subject matter otherwise there are bound to misinterpretations.

we have been working on lenticular aircraft for a very long time from the Avro saucer to the pye wacket( wiki )

that is a nuclear tipped anti SAM weapon for the XB-70
( XB-70 wiki ) it flew at speed above mach 6 and that was in the late 60's. it used rocket propulsion to get up to speed and used nitrogen jets along with control surfaces to be very very nimble.

Nasa also had some interesting ideas, one of them looked like a ninja throwing star.

A few people have voiced that but take it a step farther and think, what you think are lights are actually the propultion systems of the craft.
Nothing new in this design, it still works on a propulsion system like the aircraft 60 years ago, and as for no sonic boom I would wait and see. They can postulate that there will be none but that is the ultimate drawback as the boom is the air responding to it's displacement. It also involves certain drag on the airframe,

Misidentified Flying Object

You can't be "mistaken for a UFO" if someone doesn't know what the flying thing is, it IS a UFO.
It's not mistaken for one.

UFO is an acronym.

This is very reminiscent of Project Silver Bug

There were wild claims made about both speed and maneuverability early on and then... it either got scrapped or it went a very dark shade of black.

???????

A flying craft that is "unidentified" by someone, who "doesn't know what the flying thing is," is called a UFO...that's correct. However, it is ALSO correct, that if that object, which someone declares a UFO, is determined to be a "known" man made object, or a natural phenomenon, then it IS proper to say that the said object was "misidentified" by that person.

-astounded by the lack of logic-

Total BS

Going by their own graph it does not have a high lift to drag ratio. At 12 deg they have Cl=0.55 and Cd=0.1. That is an awful value, as to be expected from a friggin disk. At Cd=0.1 a normal wing will have Cl = 1.0-1.5.

The claim that it has no sonic boom is also nonsense. Everything has a sonic boom. You can try to soften it, reduce its perceived loudness. But you can not get rid of it.

The more likely scenario is that a UFO will be mistaken for ADIFO.
It's interesting but not exciting and, to me, nothing more than a drone with a body suit on.

Thanks for the OP.
Always love your posts.
