Clearly you're not familiar with Trump Towers' construction.

It's 1979. Trump wants to build a skyscraper in the heart of Manhattan. At this point in time his lawyer is Roy Cohn, consigliere to the top two mob families in New York.

When it came time to build his skyscraper he decided to use ready-mix concrete. This is a style of concrete that's already more expensive to use and is more problematic than pre-cast. Not only did he buy the worse concrete, he significantly overpaid for it.

And who did he buy it from? Companies owned by those same mob families his lawyer worked for.

So he's already employing the top mob lawyer and utilizing the top two mob families. If that wasn't enough to establish his mob connection, enter John Cody.

He was a Union leader deeply connected to the mob and in charge of the Trump Tower project.

At that point in time union-connected construction crews tended to create a lot of issues when any kind of problem emerged.

Somehow Trump Tower had no such issues despite using a type of concrete that tended to create those problems.

So we have a builder with a mob lawyer, overpaying for cheap mob concrete, and using mob construction crews.

And you want to argue he's no more mob connected than the hipster around the corner at Starbucks?

It may have actually cost him less to give in and buy from the mob backed companies. You have to look at the implications had he rebuffed the mob. Who knows what kind of permit or work stoppage delays the project would have endured. Not defending Trump, but kind of reminds me of the clip of Rodney Dangerfield trying to school a professor on how things work in the real world...
