The good news is Earth has given birth to a baby...boy? girl? i'm going to stick with island.

The bad news will have to wait as I need to go into detail.

NASA scientists have paid their first visit to an island that rose out of the sea from the rim of the Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai volcano in Tonga when it erupted in 2015.

The island, which has no official name and which NASA's Goddard Space Flight Centre researcher Dan Slayback had previously only seen from space, is nestled between two older islands in the South Pacific nation.

Now for the not so bad news-it could be a growing volcano. Mea Krakatoa, the child of Krakatoa, is already kicking in the womb, so what shall we name this little monster? No Islandy McIslandface, it needs to be something sensible like vroomfondel.

It's lucky we won't be around to see these terrible twins grow.

How dare you suggest a gender at birth!

It should be named Isle Delusionitis.

That is the zeitgeist afterall.

4 years on, you want to give it a name?
Sure. Let's call it Bob.

It will probably be gone in ten years time, if not it will be a shadow of it's self by then. My understanding is it is already eroding.

The volcano could identify as an Island so we'll have to call it an island.

Ummm...actually...from the photo’s...it’s not a new island...

Rather...it appears that the volcano cone and the ash buildup have merely linked the two former islands into one...so instead of three islands as suggested...what we see now...is a single island...

I propose the name...Wej Vaj Wa’...

Which is Klingon...for “three into one”...
