A historian’s remarks at a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, have gone viral after he told billionaires if they want to solve inequality, all they need to do is pay their taxes. In a video posted by Now This and viewed more than 5 million times, Dutch historian Rutger Bregman heavily criticizes billionaires who talk about solving inequality, but fail to actually do the main thing he says will help.
Bregman called out tech billionaire Michael Dell for asking people to name one country where a top tax rate of 70 percent had worked. “The United States, that’s where it has actually worked, in the 1950s,” he said. Under Dwight Eisenhower, a Republican president, tax rates for the ultra-rich peaked at just over 90 percent. Bregman also noted the irony of Davos attendees flying to the Swiss mountain town on 1,500 private jets to hear broadcaster David Attenborough give a speech about how people are destroying the planet.

The guy makes the point that all these billionaires, who can thank the society they live in for giving them the opportunity to become billionaires, if only they just paid their taxes maybe many of the social ills can be dealt with

The problem is when the politicians have tax money they come up with ideas like this:

Didn't take even one minute into the video for him to use the classic catch phrase "fair share" They never can explain what that means though..

I take it from your avatar you like war? How about a war of the rich versus the poor, would you be down with that?
Also how is it in your avatar you get to write hunter of soros paid shills, yet when I post the word shill it results in the removal of my post for breaking T&C’s?

The problem is that democrats are going about it all wrong. You don't give more money to corrupted individuals and expect good things in return.
The democrats need to IMMEDIATELY stop talking about global warming, welfare, more taxes, socialized healthcare and solely concentrate on removing the conflict of interest in DC from ALL parties , before asking for more money from anyone.
You could raise the billionaires tax rate to 100% and they would still pay no taxes because of deductions and loopholes they take advantage off. So stop preaching about taxing the rich. In the current system only the middle class will get hit with the tax increase and get nothing in return, just like today.
Today the rich already pay a higher tax rate, yet due to deduction, creative accounting, and loopholes they pay less than most.
Note there are no baby steps to take here, only one step that must come first and that is to get rid of conflict of interest before expanding gov't in any manner.
So don't talk about raising taxes ,socialized anything , and asking for more money until you fix the system that is riddled with conflict of interests.
Until than the Democrats and socialist can kiss my Arse.

Fight on against who exactly? The poor?
No I was just curious as you seemed all macho in your attitude. Personally I can’t stand the sociopathic creeps that attend Davos and would gladly fight them all. I don’t generally believe in violence but I doubt I’m the only who’s blood is about to boil.
