Surprise surprise, a convicted criminal lied to get out of jail!

A Belarusian model, who said she had proof that President Trump’s campaign colluded with the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election, has now backtracked and says she made up the claims.

Anastasia Vashukevich, who spent months in a Thai jail last year for organizing sex training seminars, grabbed headlines after saying she has evidence that Russia worked with Trump’s campaign.

She asked the U.S. government to secure her freedom from the Thai lockup and grant her political asylum in exchange for recordings in which she said Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska is heard talking about interfering in the U.S. presidential elections. She reportedly worked as an escort, with Deripaska being one of her clients.

Funny that this has not been bigger news than it was when she made the original claim.....

What are the odds? /sarc

I truly wish journalists would return to journalism and not sensationalism reporting. It is fueling the divide in this country every single day.

That's intentional and why we call them fake news. If you do a search for this story all you find for the left wing MSM are the old story you refer too. Not a peep about this update.

I would hope that even most Dems could figure out this chick was just making up crap to get out of a Thai jail.

It's nice that she admitted it

Or maybe she was telling the truth then and is lying now, because of a threat of being sent back to prison.

Honestly... how would you know, either way?

Because the fact she is a convicted prostitute, and ALL convicts in jail (especially a Thai jail) would lie their butts of without hesitation to get the hell out. You can resolve the lie later, when you are free.

It's called common sense.

They will, but 'journalism' needs to die before that can happen.

RIP CNN...

"Amber Lyon is an award-winning CNN journalist who says she was ordered to report fake stories, delete unfriendly stories adverse to the Obama administration, and construct stories in specific manners while working for the left-wing network. CNN is paid by foreign and domestic Government agencies for specific content. Let me repeat that. CNN is paid by the US government for reporting on some events, and not reporting on others. The Obama Administration pays CNN for content control."

Convicted criminals spill the dirt on associates all the time, simply because their desperate to avoid a prison sentence.

It actually makes more "common sense" that she was putting all her cards on the table by telling the truth, when facing a lengthy prison sentence in Thailand... But now is just backtracking in an attempt to avoid the consequences of 'running her mouth'.

And if she is so unreliable, then why believe either of her stories? Which defaults to a no-op story.

Kinda sucks to be one of the ones that leapt on this as true originally I'll bet (not that you did).

Yeah, no... I would have never personally given a story like this any credence.

But having said that, the fact she's gone out of her way to claim she was lying, kind of sparks my curiosity.

I mean, why bother? What could be the possible motivation behind voluntarily putting herself back in the spotlight, by labeling herself as nothing but a lying opportunistic prostitute?

That doesn't make any sense to me.

Surprise surprise, someone who claims to have information damaging to Russia is seized by Russian authorities and strangely recants her story.

I'm confused on the logic here. You folks are saying she was just lying to get extradited to the US, or anywhere, to get out of her prison sentence. well she got extradited to Russia and they just released her on Parole. Is Russia typically inclined to give slaps on the wrist to people lying about political intrigue to get out of prison? I figured someone lying about leveraging information to get extradited would be dealt with a little more harshly.

I don't think the Thai prison wanted to see her go, after all her professional expertism could be well tollerated there. She wanted out because she was not getting paid well I suppose, plus she probably was grooming some of the females there to work the men running the place. She got saved, Russia came to her rescue. That makes America look bad.

And that has exactly what to do with this story, other than a feeble attempt at political trolling to deflect?
