Do you remember when POTUS reiterated Sec. 1.7 of Executive Order 13526?

“In no case shall information be classified, continue to be maintained as classified, or fail to be declassified in order to: (1) conceal violations of law, inefficiency, or administrative error; (2) prevent embarrassment to a person, organization, or agency; (3) restrain competition; or (4) prevent or delay the release of information that does not require protection in the interest of the national security.”

If certain things are of national security and releasing them could jeopardize that, the DOJ will determine that and the president will abide by it. But (read above), President Trump will not allow anything to remain classified for any other reason.

The way I understand it, Phage, the president can order declassification. But, there is a process through the Intelligence agencies/DOJ to determine if there are national security issues.

POTUS specifically posted a reiteration of Sec. 1.7 of Executive Order 13526 outlining specific reasons they cannot use to keep something classified. (See my post above).

President Trump wants transparency, but he is not going to jeopardize our national security. But, he will step in if they try to keep it classified for any of these reasons:

(1) conceal violations of law, inefficiency, or administrative error;
(2) prevent embarrassment to a person, organization, or agency;
(3) restrain competition; or
(4) prevent or delay the release of information that does not require protection in the interest of the national security.”
