There are not many television shows on TV that deal with extraterrestrial gay porn addictions. The second episode of season 2 of the Orville was absolutely crazy:

"Dr. Finn: Porn addiction is a disease just like any other so we need to treat his condition with compassion and understanding.
Bortus: Is there an injection I can receive to cure this disease?
Klyden: You have had enough injections."

OMG! So funny.

YMMV, but for me that series is neither funny enough to be comedy, nor gripping enough to be drama. It's so lame, the ship should be a space-going wheelchair. Look at the first episode of season two, where there is a HUGE buildup to Bortus' yearly urination. When we reach that critical moment...total letdown. Yet, I keep watching...

I agree. I keep watching because it is mildly entertaining -- but so far this season it has been very mildly entertaining.

Granted. it's been only two episodes, but they really need to get into more "gee wiz" science fiction stuff like their best episodes of last season (and no -- the "gee wiz" was NOT a Bortus urination pun! ;-) ).

This season so far has been about the people on the ship reather than something to do with (to borrow a phrase) "seeking out new civilizations" stuff. If the ship-board stuff was funnier, then that would be OK. But it's a little too serious of a show to live off of only that and not have any of the sci-fi stories (albeit, "soft" sci-fi) that we had last year.

But I'll keep watching for now.

It was interesting.
I would hesitate to call it ‘gay’ porn, in that the Machlin society only have males, a guy can only be homosexual.
I realize that female machlins exist, but are almost always transformed to males by surgery in infancy.

Forgot to add: Their concept of divorce is interesting also.

I don't know what to think about this season so far. The first episode was pretty funny, and this being a Seth MacFarlane show I fully expected there to be a 2 minute long peeing sound effect involved, and was even ready to mute the volume if it went on too long... but then it was treated as a dignified event. I wasn't expecting that from Seth MacFarlane.

The second episode was somewhat awkward to watch with my wife, but it was entertaining.

Still on Season 1 here near the end. So far I think the best episode has to be the seventh involving the upvote/downvote society that we currently live in... oops, did I just say that last part out loud?

I'm not sure we can use the "gay" label here if it's an accepted single gender species. I mean yes, we find out that females are born, but are still so apparently rare that heterosexual ideas from our viewpoint wouldn't be possible.

Yes it's same sex, but I'm probably nitpicking here.

On the topic of the episode, it was about porn addiction, regardless of the type or the medium, it was still about porn addiction.

Now the visuals, I found the episode and the side story to have some striking visuals I haven't seen the likes of in a long time. I'll keep watching because Ed(seth) seems to be a born explorer with a wonder in his eyes and his heart. To me that is what the show should focus on.

My favorite episodes from season one are "If the stars should appear" and "Firestorm". I think "firestorm" was actually a good example of comedy and sci-fi mixed.
