I can't stand not having control over the filth

Politics today are nothing but corruption, propaganda, and filth. It's a complete waste of time. I would really like to see ATS have a feature were you could choose which forums you do not want to see on the "new", "top", or "live" menus. It's not too hard to do just have a "not in (...)" clause in your SQL code and a few admin pages maybe a data model change. But just think how great it would be to return ATS to its former GLORY days!!!

You could always....not participate in them.

They should ban discussions involving parties on the site, but should allow discussions on a particular nonpartison agenda taking place. Problem is that the media keeps twisting the issues so we have to discuss politics. You can't even have a reference article about a stock market downfall without the news blaming everything on Trump.

The whole political agenda these days needs to be discussed as to the intent of the people creating this civil unrest. I think it is someone in Europe who is creating all of this turmoil, controling the newspapers possibly by bribing the upper heads of the papers. There seems to be structure in this chaos, it is not about trump, some group is trying to destroy the Republican party, then it will turn on the Democrats.

Okay I get your point truly I do and it annoys me when you scroll down and find dozens of new threads being about politics and almost always you find one or two that pretty much cover the same thing HOWEVER the one thing I do not understand is why people who complain about those political threads don't just scroll on passed and just look for something that interests them, which is something that I do.

People are waking up to what governments are up to.

It will end in total control or not getting ripped off anymore to enrich a few.

Yeah, that would be a good idea if there wasn't a shortage of other threads lately. I should start more threads but do not like to babysit them. That is why I do not start many threads on health stuff anymore, I just comment on others threads.

It's just Progressivism as a movement in the US.

Yes, it is a global movement, but they need the cash cow that is the USA to get it going globally.

Progressives took the Democratic early, starting with Wilson and having another 3 good waves of progress with FDR, Johnson and Obama.

They are patient.

Ever see the speech by Obama this year where he was advocating entrenching, waiting for the right time and going forward again?

They have been doing this crap for 100 years in America now.

As for the Republicans?

Were not actually in power for 40 years until Reagan (which the Republican party hated, youtube it) then taken over by Progressives with the help of the first Bush president and were almost done, until there were little waves of distension (Perot, the Tea Party, Ron Paul, the Freedom Caucus) and then some clown named Trump swept the electoral college and wanted to actually fix things.

That's what is happening right now... they were SO close and blew it with Hillary.

Interesting times indeed.

You used to be able to click a handy little icon specifically for the forum a thread was in on the Recent list and *POOF!* unwanted forums were no longer listed. God damn, I loved that bastard, forums I have zero interest in did. not. show. up.

I don't know who thought doing away with that was a good idea, but newsflash upper management: it was not a good idea to do away with it.

There's somewhere where you can "tailor" forums you like to be the only thing shown, I think it's under MyATS, but seriously, who the hell ever uses that, it's cumbersome compared to a filterable Recent list. I tried setting it up some time ago, and it's just a mess to sift through. You'll get the forums you want, but it's in quantity overkill mode.

I do agree with the idea of just not participating in them, but there is a point to be made in that only so many topics are displayed on the New section before the older ones scroll off and are lost. If one could filter out topics in areas where you have no interest, then the older topics you might have missed and are interested in remain visible for much longer.

I have no issues with such a choice to be honest. If someone wants to exclude the Mud Pit for example from appearing on the New feed, then that's a loss for them in terms of the content they see. It doesn't affect anyone else's viewing of the Mud Pit.

That's kind of my point too. I think the political threads discourage the good stuff like alien abductions.
