Heello to all !

The other day while repairing a bicycle i needed some spare part.

So off i went to a neighborhood bike shop and got whay i needed. While waiting for the gearing part to be brought out to me i noticed some tool i never had come accross before.

I starred at the tool and on deciding that its not within my understanding as what its purpose is i asked.

Nobody knew. They said that they collected the object for that ecact reason of not understandinh its purpose.

They asked me to handle it and try figure it out my self (as an engineer) but i came in no safe conclusion.

I will link a couple ir more photos but its main attributes are a couple scrapers, a hard rubber wheel, toothed on one side of the wheel where the scrapers are and a wooden mop like handle.

Any ideas ?

Might be a carpet tool, for rolling down seams or edges.

Looking at it again, that makes more sense.

Looks like it's been in the dirt a time or two.

Thank you for the suggestions.

As you see no one is definite on what it is.

Seems to be something along these lines but the specifics are lost or unknown.

People at that shop thought it would be a good idea of posting this so the get to know themselves about the musterious tool.

Many people see this daily there and yet it has not been figurrd yet.

100% a lawn edger, I have had one for years and years, and, it was exactly like that. That is what was used before the Weed-Eaters showed up.

Could be....

Stirrups for little people

Back scratcher for tall people.

But it's probably a lawn edger.

Its dry here so keeping grass is not exactly an everyday issue of people

It gets too expensive to water grass here so its a luxury of very few, while water is spent in better ways for the rest.

Wish it rained more lime there

As such it ended up being a mysterius OPPART as you say for the many peopke that have seen it.

Thank you for confirming it is a lawn edger.

I have allready relayed the answer to the bicycle shop.

That is one of those things for going around the edge of the sidewalk I think. I do not use one of those, soon my sidewalk will be all grass. I do not know why I even put my sidewalk in, nobody ever uses it, everyone uses the grass or the ramp to get to the front door.

a reply to: GEORGETHEGREEK It's an old school, manual lawn edger. As a teenager, I had the unfortunate experience as to have to make use of one every time our lawn was mowed. Which by the way was done with an old-fashioned, manual push mower (commonly known as reel mowers back then). I hated both.

I am absolutely definite in what it is. It's for breaking up the soil before you plant seeds, or to help in edging the lawn (as another poster said).

I've spent many hours with that tool, breaking up the dirt every year for a friend with a large yard when he seeds his yard. Case closed, dude.
