I do appreciate the message there.. but, personally, I dislike the idea of letting the concept of "liberalism" be corrupted and co-opted like so many other facets of language.

So, instead of saying I am no longer Liberal, I much prefer to call this group what they are: Statists.

I actually feel its an important distinction since most who identify as the modern left, even if only in action (they have an odd habit of perceiving themselves as centrists), are about as far from liberal as one can get.

Maybe I'm just stubborn..

I'm not a liberal, but your post makes sense. It raises a question if you and other wouldn't mind answering. That is if you feel that distinction, do you vote for Sanders, more or less a socialist, The 'Statists' Party, as you call it, Trump/Republican whether or not you see that distinction as well or none of the above? No right answer, just curious.

ahhhh ANOTHER great post!!

classical liberalism ftw

I used to consider myself liberal and mostly always voted Democrat till about two years ago. That is when I started seeing the hate mongering and blame throwing being done by the Liberals in the Democratic party. I am not going to automatically side with Conservatives or Republicans, but I am going to lean that way now much more. I actually used to like a little discussions with Republicans where I would try to set them to a more neutral position but not anymore. I hope this movement gets going so it teaches the Democrats to be more open minded and maybe some day I will be back to voting democrat again when they get good candidates.

I hate hate, that is about all I hate other than figs and dates.

I'm a classical liberal meaning my philosophy on just about everything is most closely aligned with Thomas Jefferson

So no socialism and no Republican

constitutional republic. Thats it

Classical liberalism to me is an all in or nothing game

All or nothing? Then you wouldn't vote?

It's funny.

I consider myself a liberal.

Sad, isn't it?

I was I thought a liberal most of my adult life until one day I looked around, did a WTF? and went fiscal conservative.

Just because in the life I live, I have to pay the bills before I relax and do what I want to.

What is so hard to understand about that basic concept?

If we don't pay the bills then EVERYONE ends up the same... homeless.

So what is wrong with paying the bills then getting the government off of our backs so we can pursue life, liberty and happiness?

A liberal CONCEPT! Let's do that!

Brilliant!

This is what many of us on the right have been trying to say to the left for a long time now but we get shouted down as haters and liars and all that. I feel very good knowing that there are liberals out there who are not 'stuck in the loop' any more. It gives me hope I had all but lost.

Thank you for being woke.

If you want to be granular you would first have to read up on it. The federalist papers are a good start

No meaming that we have a constitutional republic or we dont

Being a part of a group that loses so much, so frequently, for so long... wears you down. Some people stay on sinking ships however. That's too bad.

I like your philosophy. We try to pay our bills right away, then we use what is left to live and play on every month. I was not that way before, I had credit cards that had big balances, now I just owe fifty bucks, I charged some gas because they had problems with the pumps at the gas station so were selling premium for the price of regular. I had twenty bucks cash, but that was a good deal, the premium gets four miles to a gallon better gas mileage in our car. I filled up the tank.

This is a very strong video on why people are leaving the Democratic party. I would recommend that everyone watch this short video and seriously think about what is going on. Please do not comment until after spending the 6 minutes needed to watch. It is powerful and very truthful about what is currently going on that is driving people away.

Reject Hate and just walk away.

Everyone needs to see that, nothing but truth in that vid. It reflects exactly how many, myself included, feel about our current political environment and issues we face in society today.

This may come as shock to some, but I've always considered myself as a liberal and have embraced progressive ideas, that was up until the end of Obama's first term, I actually voted for the guy the first time. I've never been able to 100% align myself with any side as they all have there assets and liabilities. I'm also not a big fan of labels and actually resent the use of the words left and right. The mere premise of the words left and right are creating division, IMHO. I'm also guilty of using them for lack of better descriptive words I suppose.

That said, I have next to nothing in common with the current left and want nothing to do with them, they don't reflect my morals or ethics in any fashion. I'm sick of their hate, their bigotry, their hypocrisy, their racism and a slew of other "IMO" defective traits that they've embraced.

Serdgiam made some very valid points in his post, well said.

So.....how do we move past the seemingly impasse where we're at? We can't continue down this road much longer as a society and I hate to see civil war as a viable option.

Great video and a lot of red pilling in it. What really fumes me was that list of privileged people in order of color, race, sexual orientation.

They want to divide us as they are the true racist. Modern-day liberalism is all about the oppressors/ oppressed narrative.

People are waking up slowly but surely to the insanity that is modern-day liberalism.

I agree with you 100%.

I also try not to use "Liberal" when talking about Statist Progressives. I more associate liberal with libertarians personally.

Yes, and as a Libertarian I have been saying exactly this for a very long time. The D's are now progressives and the liberal ideology is no longer theirs but people still call them liberals. Libertarians are for freedoms the liberals use to be for but now call us wanting them for our citizens who choose to die for the freedom of others to live their lives, Fascist.

Wish I could give you 100 stars and flags for this.

I fear that the left's inherent and deeply ingrained aversion to truth, ANY truth, will cause it to fall on mostly deaf ears.

But hey, I can give anyone the benefit of a doubt, at least for the 6 minutes and change that it will take to watch this video, and respond, so hey, let's see what happens.

Things like this aren't meant for the devout leftists. There's virtually nothing that can break through the years of brainwashing. It's meant for newbies who are still open-minded enough to stop and think and realize they're on the wrong path and are becoming the very thing they think they hate. If we can only save a small percentage of them, it's still a positive.
