**BREAKING** 2 x Magnitude 5.4 & 6.9 earthquakes just hit same Hawaii Island as active volcano.

This literally just hit my twitter feed a few minutes ago.......

An earthquake measuring 5.4 points on the Richter scale has struck about 18 kilometers southwest of Leilani Estates, Hawaii, where an active volcano has been spewing lava, the US Geological Survey is reporting.

The earthquake, which rocked the island of Hawaii at a depth of 6.9 km, was followed by several aftershocks, according to USGS, as eruptions at the Kilauea volcano continue.

Emergency services will be pushed to the limit already, just dealing with the Volcano erupting - now the folks of Hawaii have to also deal with this earthquake and any manifest fallout from same. There are likely going to be dark days ahead for the island and they will need all the support that can be mustered.

This is a reality of living on an active volcano, however, if it gets much worse I expect the governor to request federal assistance.

Will be interesting to see what comes in the near future as this is a major change and could be catastrophic if it becomes worse.

I wonder if that was another fissure opening, the 5.4, or a shelf collapse.

Have to look and see if there is a tsunami warning now.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center is all green so far. No threats.

If there is a sizable underwater landslide, that could change though.

This analysis was posted about 11 mins ago.

An M5.7 quake hit in the same area as the previous M5 events, followed by after shocks. these are between PU’u’O’o and the coast and likely caused by the pressure loss of the magma chamber.

Glad that isn't a worry, the last thing they need is a tsunami.

There was a M5.0 yesterday when Hawaii Volcano Forces Evacuation (Phage).

Also, the lava is flowing into a suburb.

And is crossing a road blocking that road.

EQs need to be in the M7.5 range to create tsunamis, typically. Not sure about throwing in a volcano would change that.

CNN, MSNBC and ABC are likely still engineering 'news' to prove that the EQ and all consequential effect is Trumps fault for being racist and being a climate denier - mental gymnastics takes time, this is likely why US propaganda outlets are late to the party.
