I know, why make a rant thread on my careless self falling on the Ice?

It's not just the ice, it is winter itself. I friggin hate the cold weather. I can't wait for spring and summer.

But move to a warmer climate you say?

I was cleaning up some trash that several stray cats discovered after one of my kids left the lid off of the trash can. We had a small bit of freezing rain last night and it got me pretty good. Lol

I knew it. I was in my house slippers and was in a hurry. I deserve it for turning my back on mother nature.

She always gets you when you let your guard down.

F you winter....

Thank you for understanding.

I got mine last month pulling trash up a plywood ramp.. you would think I would have thought about the Ice I knew was everywhere.

I sat down so fast i was in pain before I realized I was falling haha.

I don't think anyone saw me but if they did it was probably hilarious.

Yeah, it just takes a split second.

I'm already sore on my left side.

Luckily I live in the middle of cornfields and nobody seen me. At least your fall isn't on social media.

Or is it?

It happens to us all..

Those meddling kids and their scavenging cats!

In the early 90s my mom busted her ass on some ice in the grocery store parking lot -- it was beyond hilarious and she took it like a champ (clearly we weren't laughing when she made it to the car).

Hope you heal up quickly.

I live in Dallas and still, and I couldn't agree more..

We have a problem with heat in this city... but I'll take 100+ degree weather over this bull$hit any day of the week.

I hate cold weather too. With a passion.

is it almost over? Or do we have 6 more weeks of this stuff?

I'm just a little sore, not really a big deal.

I do t know much about Dallas, but here in Illinois it can be 20 degrees on day and 60 the next. Winter isn't really over until it is 90 degrees and 80 percent humidity..lol

My wife fell on the ice about 2 and half weeks ago. Had to have surgery on her wrist. She now is the proud owner of a steel plate that comes with 8 screws. Happened at her moms while shoveling a lite dusting of snow. Not good.

I've been there. Used to live in Trondheim and walk to and from Fjordgata to Solsiden supermarket. There is a curved pedestrian bridge that goes above the harbor from one side of the old docks to the other. Slipped on the ice after coming off the bridge, found myself levitating in mid air before falling straight down. Everyone else had been smart enough to get ice grips for their shoes.

Her indoors slipped on the set of steps that lead to our front door. After that, we got some astro-turf to go over the steps, removes the danger of black ice forming and adding some padding to the hard stone.

We attempted to put outdoor carpet around the door. It held too much moisture when it rained. The concrete didn't allow it to dry properly.

I'm a little further south. Ennis.
It rained ice this morning.
I've been having fun on my bicycle.
I pulled off a 360 slide.
Fell a few times, but no injuries.
People complain when it's cold.
People complain when it's hot.
If you don't like Texas weather, just wait, it will change.

Sounds like you're in my neck of the woods. I'm in Clark County and it was ice everywhere this morning. Nothing major just a thin ish sheet, but in cowboy boots it may as well been a blizzard. Pretty much skated across the grocery store parking lot and saw a couple folks bite it.
I'm still vertical.

For now.

I'm a yooper, here ice is a way of life. It gets so you really dislike ice cubes in your drink.

You get used to the ice, it keeps you on your toes knowing you can be on your back when you walk. Pay attention, it helps to keep from the soreness of a fall. I took Judo when I was a teenager, they teach you how to land when you fall. keep your guard up, falls really suck.

offtopic...

I'll have to keep you in mind... I'm actually looking to escape from Dallas (without going too far).

But I was thinking of moving to Rockwall or Rowlette

maybe if this project actually gets developed... I'll live there.

We'll see.

Well...I moved back to Virginia because I actually like all 4 seasons. Winter can be painful, quite literally, but I love the feeling of a cold wind whipping into my face, freezing my nose and numbing me in all the wrong places. I also love the snow, which we don't get enough here; There's something very peaceful about being the only one up at 7am, shoveling the white stuff in the quiet morning and feeling the bite of the cold air in my lungs.

Don't get me wrong, I love spring summer and fall as well. But to get to them I'll go through winter, with it's ice and snow and enjoy every minute of it...

PS: Always be careful on the ice...never let your guard down. Mother nature is a beach.

That is just a few miles up the road from where I'm currently staying. Might try to get in on that one.
Thanks for the heads up.
