I truly believe the current internet needs to be scrapped because it's currently constipated and over complicating everyone's lives!

Who will be the arbiter of the new internet , the one that isn't clogged with unworthy content ?

I dropped out of 9th grade when I ran away from home.
I was illiterate, uneducated, homeless for many years.
When I was in my mid 20s a very generous person let me
live with them for free so I could try and get some kind
of life together. It was 2004 and I was able to use the internet
in a real way for the first time. I had NEVER used a keyboard or
mouse before this. Because of the internet I have become an

I am currently writing a book about my time as a homeless kid.
Without the internet I would be a criminal, probably in jail.
I think this is true for all of us . We are all, despite what people like to say,
more intelligent than we would have been otherwise. When I was 16 I didn't
know who, what , or where north korea was. Today I have had deep political
conversations with a 13 year old.

The accumulation and rapid dissemination of information is a beautiful and needed invention.

I think that's the strongest argument for the internet I've seen , it's always had its faults but I agree it is a wonderful educational tool and we all benefit from the knowledge contained within.

Google is biased. I googled List of all cat 3 hurricanes of the last 12 years and the first 5-7 sites
where about cat 3 USA land falls. That's not what I asked . But like was said above google is not the internet.

And no, the internet didn't teach you, hell you could have gone to any public library. You just took the easiest option in a better environment for your self education.

Tend to agree. I couldn't find anything on Cuba either which really concerned me. But then I remembered, I speak Spanish! So checked out this:

And there is lots of news about Cuba -- don't know how much is from Cuba. But I did learn earlier, from a Cuban website, that the government has been taking down cell phone stations and dishes all over the the country, so they can be reinstalled easily after the storm. Therefore little info is going to be coming out from most rural places on Cuba.

If you haven't done it already you should research the cuban medical advancements. There is a real conspiracy surrounding the cuban medical breakthroughs and why the current US government broke ties with them. It's connected to lobbyists paid by big pharma.

Well researched. That could make sense... I thought of searching for it in Spanish, it seems quite odd that all the MSM talks about is where the hurricane is going to hit in the US and how the evacuation proceeds, while probably Cuba, which its population has nowhere to go, is going through a nightmare right now.

Without the internet most of us wouldn't know how much real damage cuba will sustain nor would be able to help as easily as we will be able to.

I agree, especially we need an internet that could bridge the differences, the language barriers... So far the internet has connected individuals that speak their common language, it would be the day to see how it can connect people from different languages. I'm sure Cuba and the rest of the Caribbeans countries need all the help they could get.

I thought of that too, though I still think it is plausible to find at least one local broadcasting station, either news outlet or an amateur fella with good technical skills that could provide a local POV of the storm.

Honestly, it might just be my ignorance or my Western habits but it frightens me that we can't find a live stream. I just hope they're doing OK, category 5 is a nasty storm.

We only see 5% the entire web. And yes.. that tiny % of the whole may be useless... but the rest of the 95% whole of the onion's still there...... So?

Good point, good point. Hopefully, this doesn't get worse. I'm usually able to find accurate information online, although I do spend a bit of extra time verifying sources and information.
