I went for a walk in the dark this morning. As I walked over a knoll I experienced a screaming. It was so strong I let out an expletive, twice.

The vision was of a burning witch, watched by a crowd from the hillside beyond the knoll. She had been tied with her back to the view, she had to watch the crowd. They were kept in place by guards.

The burning was particularly cruel with the flames being doused while the crowd was lectured, then relit to finish the execution.

Any advice on how to cleanse this site?

Tagging for later when the wife gets off work, she is involved and has connections into that realm of thought.

Well clearly, fire will not be your friend here.

Mate of mine had his house "smudged", which involved someone wandering about with smoldering herbs in thier hand, muttering the odd phrase here and there.

Personally speaking, I would just plant something there. Something that will live for a good long while.

The reason I say that is that ritualism is frankly absurd, all of it, no matter whose religion is involved. Healing is not a matter of words, and alchemy. Peace does not come from fetishes and poetry. You carry that stuff within you, or not, as a matter of being alive and having conscience greater than your ancestors did.

So plant a little tree or bush, give the fallen something to be remembered by, put a living thing, where a living thing once died. A natural thing, to guard the place where a soul left its mortal confines. There's too much lore and not enough love in faith these days, no matter which faith one might follow. Ritual means less than intent.

How certain are you that what you "visioned" actually took place?

The native Americans use sage to "cleanse" the body as well as spaces.

Prayer seems a likely technique of interest.

I'm no authority on such matters, but it could be worth looking into.

Do you feel affected ? Or perhaps something that was shown to you that was equivalent to something going on in your life ? A spiritual warning so to speak...
Not a specialist in this field....

I think it's a bare on the top of the knoll. Like Dragon Hill.

A bare patch of chalk upon which no grass will grow is purported to be where the dragon's blood spilled.

I'll go and look in daylight. Getting something to grow there might be the key. Thank you for your input.

My only way to gauge the authenticity is the unexpected power of the emotion. I was out for a relaxing walk and it hit me completely unexpectedly.

Do you just want to cross this area occasionally without being bothered, or is there a reason to tamper with it? Easy enough to deal with the first issue.

I'd say go to your local church and get some holy water , return to the site and recite a prayer or two and sprinkle the water where you feel the disturbance.

Here's a prayer that is considered to be helpful for souls in purgatory.

Here are two other good prayers for souls in purgatory:
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen

O Lord, who art ever merciful and bounteous with Thy gifts, look down upon the suffering souls in purgatory. Remember not their offenses and negligences, but be mindful of Thy loving mercy, which is from all eternity. Cleanse them of their sins and fulfill their ardent desires that they may be made worthy to behold Thee face to face in Thy glory. May they soon be united with Thee and hear those blessed words which will call them to their heavenly home: "Come, blessed of My Father, take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."

According to the site I've linked Christmas is a good time to release souls from purgatory to heaven.

The place is already clean. That's what the witch burning was all about to begin with.

My main feeling is the site needs cleansing because it's a popular recreational area.

You're dead right about something there but I'd rather not discuss it.

I'm thinking of the others who use the area in the daytime and youngsters partying there at night.

The rest of the message was she was a landowner and this was an excuse for a greedy man to add her land to his own. He was the man who lectured the crowd.

Not necessarily , many of those burned as witches in Britain weren't actually witches , many were the victims of spurious claims in a time of rife Ergot poisoning by people believing they'd been cursed.

I couldn't spare the time to walk back out there so I drove.

First the veg box arrived exactly when I opened the door to leave. 'That fits in with what TrueBrit said about mellow fruitfulness' I thought.

Then I got to a difficult junction. Often people cut the corner a bit, but this time a stream of cars and vans cut the corner atrociously, the last car, not cutting the corner quite so badly, was driven by a local witch.

The last bit of road is very steep, winding and rough. I dropped down into first and it felt as if the clutch suddenly, completely failed. I checked I was in first, no go, like a force field. There was an ominous feeling with it. I backed down to a gateway, stopped the engine and thought about my options. Starting the engine again I drove slowly forward and the car drove as normal.

When I reached the burn site I was surprised to see it is covered in grass. In the dark I had the impression it was bare earth. Planting something there is possible.

The vision I got in the dark was that more than once several women had been burned together. But the emotion wasn't so strong as the lone victim. It seemed she was much loved by many of those forced to watch.

Standing in the centre of the burn site I asked what I could do and she answered plant herbs on her stolen land. The rough location of her lands and the thief's lands had been indicated to me, so I know where to go.

Then I drove back and there was a lorry jackknifed on the difficult junction.

I'm going to decorate the awkward bits in the downstairs loo now. It seems safer.

When someone dies violently, it leaves behind a residual energy that can linger indefinitely. You need someone who knows precisely what they're doing, particularly if any of the people involved regularly walked between worlds, such as a practicing Witch.

Smudging or otherwise attempting to cleanse an area is a very unwise idea unless you know precisely what was involved...which you do not, in this case. It will require a practiced professional. If you were near my location, I would go take a look myself for you, without hesitation. It causes my heart quite a measure of pain and rage when I think about the atrocities that were committed against my Sisters in the Burning Times.

You should be able to find a local practitioner pretty easily in the area. In fact, most reputable paranormal investigators have someone already either on their team or a phone call away, and are typically more than willing to help. One very serious word of caution here; beware of anyone you contact who mentions financial compensation. That is a big fat nope. No one should ever charge money for helping another soul cross the Veil.

I would also caution you very strongly not to revisit this place alone until you know more about what you're dealing with. Your vision could have been accurate, or it could have been a ploy on the part of darker forces to lure you closer. Either way, definitely be extremely careful that you do not unwittingly open a door that cannot be closed again. Where violent death happens, bad things tend to lurk.

have you tried a super soaker full of holy water?

or maybe sit in the middle of the affected area and do some verbal cleansing with positive messages of moving on?
