Just going to ignore Hillary's fake allegations of a right wing conspiracy against her because for her self proclaimed innocence, the media pushing the false narrative instead of investigation her trail of corruption, media that should be impartial allowing Hillary's staff to edit news stories, Dan Rather caught using fabricated evidence, CNN telling people it was only legal for the press to view Wikileaks documents, AP baited by false witnesses, and CNN caught purposely suppressing information by pressuring journalists?

So dullusional and so sad to be willing to enlist with the thought police. Which books are you going to burn first?

I'm not a book-burner. That's 0 for 3 you're striking out. Please stop trying to make it about me. The thread as been closed once already for undue snarkiness.

The thread is about: Some news is FAKE. And some people don't know that what they are reading is FAKE. And some refuse to believe the news they are reading is FAKE when they are told that the news they heard was a lie and/or fake.

Used to be that we could say: Hey, my ATS fellow member, that site is fake news. And they would say, "oh! Thanks for pointing that out." And then we'd all move on. We are talking about the internet, and how gullible people are, and how easily bemused (Bemused definition, bewildered or confused.) and benighted (Definition of benighted. 1 : overtaken by darkness or night. 2 : existing in a state of intellectual, moral, or social darkness : unenlightened.) by such FAKE news some unwitting people are.

Are you needing more clarification, or do you get what we're talking about here now? We're not talking about me. We're talking about fake news. We aren't talking about Hillary, either, or book-burning. Get it?

I'm not a book-burner, but I am definitely a truther. If something is told as "truth" but it's a lie, I want to know that. Don't you?
Being told something and when asked for more information all one gets is "because I said so!" is not "journalism."

This is about you referencing liberal propaganda and literature striving to play thought police and silence conservative opinion.

Except, those most susceptible to fake news stories aren't Right Wing Trump Supporters, as I'm sure you were hoping. Nope, they are high school and college SJW's. The safe space liberals at colleges across the US can't tell fake news from real news. And it's been especially obvious over the last 12 month election cycle.

Well, let's take academia itself away from safe space liberals and give it to troll space conservatives who seem to have something to prove.

Yeah then let's bring conservative talk radio into academia too. Maybe the college kids can make tinfoil hats, hand them out to students along with chick tracts and bullets. Yeah that'll make America great. Again.

Today I Learned that "moonbat" is a word that is used to refer to both liberals, AND to conspiracy theorists in general.

I learned it from researching about WorldNetDaily.

Aside from the fact that WND is an evangelical news site that behaves as though The End Times are truly upon us, and are the producers and publishers of far-right-evangelical extremist opinions, I wanted to know more. So I did a wiki....and here is what I found on rationalwiki under "moonbat", which was referenced from the WND entry:

In the last few years, the term "moonbat" has also come to refer to those individuals who subscribe to conspiracy theories regardless of political affiliation. Typically, such individuals have little regard for rational discourse, lack the ability to provide credible sources to support their arguments, and fail to demonstrate an elementary understanding of the fields they make claims about.
Most likely, the term has come to such an understanding due to the "screeching" such people do about a given conspiracy theory while unable to intelligently convey a legitimate reason for accepting it as fact.

Now. There was a list included also, which would fit me, yes, except for the George Moonbiot and Cindy "MK Ultra" McKenzie references (I don't know who either of those people are or what they say, but I think I've heard of the latter)....

so without further ado, here is the list of what the WND crowd consider "moonbats".....

I would like for the right-leaning people here to tell me if this is true....

he following groups of people are often called moonbats, and often accused of liberal bias, and sometimes accused of being "socialists", according to the wingnut logic, many times:
George Monbiot – geddit?! It sounds like his surname, and he's a leftie![2]
Atheists
Agnostics
Homosexuals
Bisexuals
Feminists
Scientifics
Skeptics
Humanists
Secular Humanists
Rationalists
Social democrats
Liberals/Progressives
People who are Left-Wing, Center-Left and some Centrists.
People who don't believe in Young Earth Creationism or Intelligent Design.
People who are not evangelical Christians.
People who acknowledge the existence of global warming and Climate change.
People who believe that apply environmental laws are good and necessary.
People who do not (or do, depending on who's in power) support the Iraq War.
People who do not (or do, depending on who's in power) wish to invade Iran.
People who believe gays should have equal rights, or at least that they shouldn't be stoned to death.
People who do not want to live in a theocracy.
People who get laid before marriage.
People who criticize Ann Coulter, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson etc.
People who want healthcare to be more widely accessible.
People who are not unabashedly racist and sexist
People who are not free-market capitalists
Cindy 'Ultra MK' McKenzie

If being those things makes me a "moonbat", then fine.

However, this part, which I'm repeating for emphasis --- what do you think about this?

Now then - considering these two pasted descriptors, I want to ask the right-wing here - do you agree with these claims?

I suggest you start your own thread. I am not a Hillary fan, and I didn't say anything about CNN or Dan Rather - so please stop trying to 'edit' my thread and make it into something it is not.

FAKE NEWS is fake news. Bias is not the same as Lies. No one of us in this country knows everything that's going on. Reporters are people. A news agency with integrity always will try to VERIFY what they are reporting. If they, too, are fed lies, then whose fault is it?

Other than that, please stop spamming the thread with your personal attacks on me and off-topic deflections.

sigh

you're not helping. please address the topic. fake news. all of us are susceptible to falling for it. if students are not being taught critical thinking, that is a huge problem. I taught my own two kids how to discern truth from crap, and how to think critically about what they are reading or hearing.

Life skills largely depend on good parenting, not so much on "formal education." A good school teaches students to LOOK IT UP for themselves, and grades them on their ability to do independent research. At least that's what "Liberal Arts" educations provide. Technical schools not so much.

Which parts of the news is fake exactly? I spent the last year looking at polls saying Clinton was in the positive the whole time (Real Clear Politics a site founded by conservatives). Was sure of her victory, what happened to all those well educated, professional, well "sourced" polls?

Like the OPINION piece in the Washington Post recently about #pizzagate begins with saying it is absolutely untrue in anyway and then never elaborates on specific data to discredit this. If this sh#t was untrue they would've sued for SLANDER.

It's all made up external attachment to nonsense, looking for excuses to do what they want... some people like and enjoy killing things, they should be doing what? In the killing fields not due to those making a killing off of killing either especially when it comes to people in that whole most dangerious game nonsense... remember the Zodiac Killer Cyphers? That sick twisted perverted nonsense?

Go read it then take a good hard look in the mirror and see the dick making excuses to be so inverted and uncaring and kind... yeah life can come out of that end but the upper end does even care about the life seen on the lower end because they think they are above everyone.

In reality no one is above or below anyone just a bunch of made up games and nonsense of pretend like adult children but it just goes around and around have a heart listen to something else aside from the game of nonsense and dumb crap not one wants to play without consent.

Thats my advice... a new day is the best news but no news except new life is ever good news. Thats occuring all the time but what is the focus? On how much is lost instead of how much is built because of these make believe games as excuses to keep playing games as adults because of not having or much control as children some give their children everything some give them nothing and round and round it goes over and over suffering after suffering

And people want to think it real and worthwhile in their games of control of eachother... and then everyone like a some casualty vampire has to keep spinning their heads around at the same nonsense or trying to force others to.

So real or fake who cares those craving and desiring power? Wanting to keep it? Never had any so the joke is on them... playing everyone else as fools?

Once awake to reality instead of the make believe? None of that really matters popularity contests are like school something adults should care about? No really they have a life and work to deal with and do that makes them happy to build something they want to build... if someone is happy living like they are 20 years old or even 5 who cares? One minute to the next choices efects from those choices are others pleased with those choices if someone does want to be the daily news to you turn the channel tune them out focus on something else.

Nature handles itself making drama a part of someones life no one is asking for just makes things more complicated than they really have to be.

Changing focus is as easy as placing the eyes on something else and not letting the mind set any hooks into it, same with the ears etc. with hearing... ear plugs can tune a lot of annoyance out, thats why teens are always listening to music and headphones like GTFOut and GTFOff my body my right.

So hey keep fiction in fiction and the few truths that we do share as reality no big deal.

Yes, the pollsters were wrong, and were blind-sided by the Trump victory. Their models didn't work, not Nate Silvers, and not RCP. They were wrong.

It happens. They're still working on figuring out what happened, because this is unprecedented. Uncharted territory. Therefore, we discuss the quality of news. Some of it is fake. Some of it is speculation (polling in particular), and speculation is ALWAYS prone to being wrong.

No, it isn't about me silencing anyone. How else can I explain this to you?

This is about fake news. Every person who reads the news is susceptible to being fooled. Some people are more easily fooled than others, and don't know they are being fooled. Some of the people are fooled some of the time.

You get it? It's not about me silencing anyone. Please get back on topic. Do you believe you know the truth? What news sources tell you the truth (as you understand it)? I mean you, personally. We can investigate those sources together. Stop twisting the topic ---- trying to spin it into something like a fake news outlet would do -- and join the conversation.

Do you see? You've proven the point. You have made a declarative statement about this thread, and it is utterly misconstrued. You have tried to make it about me wanting to burn books and silence conservative opinion.

That is not what it is about.

Your statement, therefore, is FAKE NEWS.

See? See how I did that?
Now, unless you were trying to demonstrate how to change a story and tell a fake story instead, please desist. Fake News 101 is across the hall. So take your presentation over there, please.

It's sad you don't even realize the difference between a liberal hit piece than real and unbiased news. Your biases are showing and desire for thought control.

Very sad you are basing you arguments on liberal propaganda rags with no real academic credit. Nothing more than you falling for the lies of the thought police.

Liberals are just as bad, if not more susceptible to lies. Who is a high school dropout more likely to vote for. Which school districts have the highest dropout rates in high schools?

Hell, liberals glorify false news and the attempts at misinformation.

The movie that attempts to justify Dan Rathers blatant use of fabricated evidence against Bush is just one example how main stream media controls and manipulates information.

Here is you list of just a few examples how mainstream media is unethical, willing to use unvetted eyewitnesses accounts to push biased news organizations views, and filling to suppress facts.

Going to acknowledge the shortcomings, deceit, and hypocrisy of main stream media?

hacking is a felony under federal law, WikiLeaks got the felony hacks and published them, violating federal law. if you downloaded those hacked e-mails, you could technically be violating federal law....

try this...
hack into Apple and publish their confidential data...hack into the speaker of the house's e-mail, and publish confidential data...hack into the republican national committee data base, and publish all their data....
