Er, please don’t panic.
This is (I think) to do with the Digital Economy Bill 2016/17 which is going through the House of Lords (in the UK) at the moment. The Bill puts a
duty on porno sites to put age verification when viewed in the UK, and the body to oversee what is an “adult website” is the British Board of Film
Classification (BBFC). The BBFC work with several legal frameworks, including the Obscene Publications Act (OPA). That’s how we get this tenuous
link.
The OPA has been tested in court in recent times and really only extreme and violent porno is now in scope, such as rape, sexual injury, bestiality et
al.
Besides, who cares if there’s less porn on the internet, or someone has to tick a box saying they are over 18. But it makes a good panic story,
doesn’t it?
