BREAKING: Joint Base Andrews Under Lockdown After Report of Active Shooter

There is no new information yet...but I remember a similar situation happening about six weeks ago.

Joint Base Andrews in Maryland has been placed on lockdown following a report of an active shooter.

The base was placed on lockdown just after 9 a.m. Thursday, officials at the base told News4. All personnel have been directed to shelter in place. Joint Base Andrews, in Prince George's County, Maryland, is the home of Air Force One and to other emergency reaction units for the area around the nation's capital.

Hoping for a false alarm and maybe it was Fireworks as we are near the 4th of July. One only could hope this early with the reports.

Just turned on the local news and saw this.

Apparently there is a little confusion because there are drills taking place today.

Local news hasn't confirmed yet if it's real or part of the drill.

I hearing active shooter on news. Not really sure because they say there are drills going on also.

It's mind blowing how often drills are immediately followed by a terrorist incident.

People from inside the medical building are tweeting that it's real and they were told to shelter in place.

Local news is also talking about the May 12th bomb scare at the visitors center.

It's crazy!

News also reporting that people are confused because they think it's part of the drill.

Park police choppers surrounding the area...local news can't confirm if it's part the drill or because of the active shooter.
