I hope with all my heart this is not what I think it is and that there are no injuries or fatalities.

If I had plans to visit Turkey any time soon I'd be cancelling them.

My prayers are with everyone affected or injured by the blast.

We'll have to stick with this story to see how it develops. It's too early to start thinking about possible damage or death counts, god forbid there are any.

I echo that. I hope this doesn't escalate into a much bigger event with mass casualties or injuries.

Update:

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - An explosion that rocked an area near an Istanbul metro station on Tuesday may have been caused by a bomb on an overpass, Turkish broadcaster NTV said.

Haberturk TV earlier reported that one person had been killed in the explosion near the Bayrampasa station on the European side of Istanbul. Source

Terrible. If one person has already been reported dead, I don't expect the upcoming news to be about only one person.

The world needs to view this reality of terrorism in a new light. Not in the light of invading anywhere they roam, but certainly not in the light of acceptance.

Editor's note: There remains little clarity on the toll from the explosion in Istanbul. The first reports were that 1 was killed. More recent updates from wire services are reporting that the explosion, believed to be a bomb, wounded 5 but killed no one. - Tom

It`s the geographical location of the city...

To the south of Istanbul lays the Marmara Sea, and to its north the Black Sea. The Western part of the city is in Europe, and the Eastern is in Asia. The vital watercourse that divides Istanbul is the Bosphorus. As a seaport, it is both the closest Asian city to Europe and the closest European city to Asia.

At least it wasn't bigger. That was a pretty small explosion from the video. Hopefully there are not more planted around or that wasn't a distraction to pull in responders for something larger.

Yeah like saying it is the "Westerners" side of the bridge. It is an Islamic thing west (Christianity) against the east(Islam).

It's a geographical pointer.
There is also an Asian side, on the other side of the great channel.

Check an atlas. One side of the city is geographically in Europe, the other side is in Asia.

They're surely not ISIS members who has planted this bomb.
So, what terrorists we're talking about here?
Kurds?
Smells like false flag from Erdogan... small device, minor casualties, enough to blame the Kurds...
