The following link provides a video in which a couple of immigration protesters stand at the front of a crowd holding a banner with their message on immigration.

While I respect the protestors right to free speech and willingness to stand for a cause, I also like the way it appears the moderators of the discussion handled it as well.

He agreed to have the issue, immigration, brought in to the discussion with the GOP candidates if they simply sat down. This could of ended up with a use of force by security, but it seems to have ended well.

Kudos to both sides and I hope the issue was discussed as promised.

MSNBC Video

Will post a YT video if I can find one.

The topic never really got covered. They ran out of time. It was, however, the most informative debate/discussion so far. The protesters were "escorted " out by the boys in blue.
You can follow the link to watch the discussion presidentialfamilyforum.com...

Anyway - going to watch the forum now. Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: Yeah, too much bless him and bless them and snakes and serpents and baby Jesus...and please put money in the envelope.

RIGHT OUT OF THE CHUTE. Gah.
This will be painful.

Oh my - they'd like us all to pray for 'revival' at 7:14 am and pm...
I can just hear it now....

people bellering from church belfries and cross towers - TIME TO PRAY!!!

This will be difficult to watch, but I'll try.
These are Theocrats. Seems to me that the fact that many, many people didn't come - could very well be that God sent the blizzard to ....

nm.

What are they shouting???
Sounds like "too much praying"

oh - no - "USA" and now he's treating the guy like a kindergartner. "Take your banner and go sit down, or we won't discuss it at all..."

???????

This is all my opinion, folks. Meaning no offense to anyone, just that this scares me.
last note: Trump is not there.

Buzzy, how does that scare you? And they were absolutely correct to call the protesters out.
In order to have a civil discussion you must have two or more CALM parties willing to discuss. Not people interrupting, shouting and being rude. They look like little children and it does nothing to futher the discussion.
Sometimes I feel like people who lean to the far left are just people who never fully matured. Seriously, they act just like spoiled children for the most part.
Why do you care if people want to pray for our nation twice a day? There will be no belltowers and such. Mostly just people by themselves who take a moment to Wisperer a silent prayer for our nation. It will not effect your daily routine in any way.
If you don't believe in prayer that's well and good, however all the positive thoughts going out twice daily couldn't hurt, could they?
For those who don't know research if714.
The discussion they had was informative and helped show a personal side to the seven on stage.

Nope, it's not that i don't believe in prayer. In fact, I believe that if the whole world would come together and 'imagine' (pray) for peace and for all people to be cared for, then our collective consciousness might in fact do something.
What bothers me is that they're suggesting that people should "download the app" so that they get a text reminder at every occurrence of 7:14 on on the clock.

Now - suppose they put that app on EVERY CELL PHONE, hidden, where a person can't delete it....and if they don't stop everything at that moment and pray, then - they are arrested....
not too different than the Muslim "call to prayer" - you can't just blow it off....or you are in trouble. In some parts of the world, you are DEAD.

When these people, the candidates, were just asked "what is the very first call that you make if another 9/11 event happens when you're president?" -
and three of them said,
"My very first call would be to fall on my knees and pray".

Oh, yeah , that's gonna help. *eyeroll* - just like GW, who said "God told me to invade Iraq." These aherm - people - could do the very damn same thing - they are just ITCHING to go to war as it is.....

And also - if insurgents know that every American will be preoccupied at 7:14 every day and evening, they know when those people are most vulnerable.

This is a bad, bad, bad idea. I certainly don't want anyone as President who can pull that crap out of his or her hat like W did - it was a disaster, and all he had to say was, "God told me to." And STILL he walks free....and probably always will.

War crimes much? Yes - war crimes. Justified by "God." Give me a break.

The protesters were acting like jerks, I agree.
I'm discussing not the interruption of them, but the discussion itself at this point.

I also think it was inappropriate for whoever to attack them saying "liberals this" and "liberals that".....

and how do you know there won't be "belltowers" on every freaking corner (or the emergency alert system sirens) erupting at every 7:14????

What makes you think that if a fundie Christian gets elected to a fundie Congress, that it WOULDN'T HAPPEN??

A touch naive, methinks.

Well, let's see. Why do I care if they want to pray twice a day? I don't - until it becomes something that overrides EVERY OTHER TASK.

Suppose a neurosurgeon is operating on a patient...or someone is giving CPR, or a house is burning down and suddenly all the firemen stop to pray. SECONDS COUNT.

A kid is running out into the street and mommy is on her way to scoop him out of harm's way - but she has to stop to pray.

You can't guarantee it will not affect my life or routine in any way.

If any individual that are in those professions and were to do something like that would be criminal, and they have no business being in that profession.

Unless they are actually idiots and do what you are saying, I don't see how you can be afraid of those things. No person in their right mind would.

There are many in each of those professions who are also religious and would never do that.

And no, someone whispering a silent prayer in no way at all affects you.

not now it doesn't no.

But what bothers me is they start making it "Mandatory". Because I don't trust that these Dominionist types wouldn't try to make a law to that effect.

I hope you can see what I'm saying....slippery slope thing, you know.

Sure, now it's voluntary - but what about when the USA is "declared a Christian theocracy" and then it's MANDATORY?

Did you see their ad promoting this "app"? They want this to go GLOBAL. You really ought to watch it to get a feel for how troubling the very idea is.....

go to quad's link, and start at 27:00 to see the vid.
Or, for more pious fun, watch the whole first half hour, and see what I'm talking about.

And it never ceases to amaze me at how people on the one hand can jump up and down saying that people are "fear mongering" over "terrorists", while in the same breath actually say things that are complete fear mongering about people's religion.

Tolerance?

yah....right....

Theocrats? Yeah .... right.

P.S. Remember, I watched the Hunger Games again last night. I've read all the books. You all gripe about 1984 all the time, but this trend to enforce prayer doesn't scare you???

Also - I'm a creative writer. Consider this brainstorming potential book or movie pitches. I can imagine it happening.

For those who want to skip all the prayers and get straight to the meat of the matter:
start at 27:22 -

(Tried to embed with that as the start point, but it doesn't seem to work - can anyone else get it to start playing at that point?)

These were young people that did this. Not older, more experienced people that are acting like fools.

What? Are you serious?
How can you compare a simple reminder app to any of that? Talk about leaps and bounds!
It is an app to remind. So that if your not busy you can join other people at that exact moment to put forth those positive thoughts......together.
No one is forcing anyone, it is simply your choice.

I don't think it will happen because it won't. Checks and ballances. Besides the American people wouldn't stand for it.

a reply to: BuzzyWigsThis argument is invalid. You are talking mostly in "what ifs". That is a never ending circle where everyone loses.
What if people who had time at that moment just lifted the nation up in prayer?
No children dieing in the streets no make believe bell towers just simple positive thoughts by those who are available to do so.
You seem to be going WAY overboard here just to argue.
