Not so long ago someone in ATS tried to twist reality saying "the most dangerous U.S. cities are actually heavy Democrat pockets !! ", I said that does not seems to be the case, and with humility i admit to be lazy as i checked 1 case and saw there was a good mix of republicans and democrats mayors in the history of that city.

I got attacked and mocked for being lazy, while at the same time no one cared to check the reality of cities in USA, so here I present my research, first the 20 least violent cities in USA, according to FBI in 2012:

And the distribution of the 50 top cities by population:

As you may see, violence is not located in "heavy Democrat pockets !!", it just happen than democrats control most mayor offices in the country, including the most violent, the least violent and the one in the middle. Why electors don't consider republicans fit for mayor is out of my knowledge, but this Lovely Topic is clearly a propaganda piece trying to make see democrat cities as violent pits, implying Republican cities are not the case, completely ignoring that for each republican mayor there is 3 democrat or independent, and that the crime rate on republican cities is not the brightest either.

Violence and crime is apolitical, stop thinking you are so superior and try a dosage of humility too.

Whit out anything else i can add, i just can finish with

Well ?

What's the EXCUSES now?

Looking at who is in office right now is extremely short sighted. The other post at least made some reference to cities that have historically been ran by Democrats.

- Fort Wayne has a pretty even distribution of Republican/Democratic elected mayors. Democrats take credit for that eh?

- Detroit hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1967. Democrats can't possible be responsible for that.

- Chicago hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1927. Again, Democrats can't possible be responsible for that.

And your top city listed is in Texas. Texas man. One small Democratic mayor in the Republican stronghold of Texas. C'mon.

Your comparison fails hard.

see Texas cities on the top 50 list, all democrat, except the independent one

the thing is republicans don't do well on elections for mayors, anywhere

Republican Big-City Mayors Are an Endangered Species

But pick the statistic it fits you better to accommodate your bias, the reality is that violence and crime does not relate to a political color.

In the other thread I tried to get people to understand that there are many factors involved beyond the power of a mayor that contributes to crime and crime statistics, but no one seemed to care. The mayors were democrat, crime was high and therefore Democrats are to blame for the high crime. That comparison failed hard.

But why aren't people approaching this thread in the same manner? Because it shows democrat mayors run the least violent cities? Aren't we being hypocrites here?

If I'm correct you failed to see the point. Pretty sure the OP is pointing out that statistics are just that...STATISTICS. Anyone can twist and turn statistics to benefit their argument, which has been seen over and over. This Right vs. Left crap is just garbage and ignorant.

I'm with the comment or that all politicians are worthless but a few things I notice. The other data was from 2014 i believe not 2012 but your own post shows democrats run 80% of the top 10 violent cities and 32 of the top 50. Regardless, if you depend on politicians of any party to keep you safe from crime you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer

Good question, you see the other op said his source get the ranking from the FBI, the reality is that that topic source says nothing about the FBI, it links to another private webpage, the last FBI info that i could find is from 2012.

Yes democrats run most cities, violent non violent and everything else, see the point?

----
oh nvm the FBI got more recent data, its the same i'm sure but take a look at this

That's global US violent crime
gets lower while Clinton, stales/increases at bush, get lower again at Obama... weird

Great graph
You know, listening to the "news" one says there
is a war on black people and the other a war on cops.
However it's certainly not showing up in the overall trends.
Violence against Police Officers hit a 25 year LOW
this year. thegrio.com...

While I tend to agree that crime is apolitical, here's the irony in your list of the top crime cities by population: Of the 45 listed that are either a D or an R, 33 are run by Democrats. That is basically 3/4 (73.333%) of the cities.

I'm not thinking that you made your point very well. Sure, maybe not all of them are either Dems, but more than 73% of the Rs and Ds are Democrats. That's pretty heavy statistical data that goes against Democrats, if the majority of us were ignorant enough to believe that the mayor of the city is responsible for the overall violent crime rate.

Point being, I don't think you made a very valid point by pulling up list.

ETA: Forgot to mention that I think the major driving factors behind high violent-crime rates are both population density and the degradation of the family unit--no one is taught the value of human life anymore.
