A Conspiracy themed cartoon that aired only once on SNL in 1998 and pulled because it wasn't funny.

www.wakingtimes.com...
“The 1998 Robert Smigel animated short film “Conspiracy Theory Rock”, part of a March 1998 “TV Funhouse” segment, has been removed from all subsequent airings of the Saturday Night Live episode where it originally appeared. Michaels claimed the edit was done because it “wasn’t funny”. The film is a scathing critique of corporate media ownership, including NBC’s ownership by General Electric/Westinghouse.”

My guess is that it has become more relevant in the year 2015 and is therefore going to be funny at last. Because we all know the expression, "It's only funny because it's true".

Or is it?

Everyone likes a cartoon.

Michaels is right. It wasn't funny. It was scary in its accuracy in reporting. At least Smigel tried to sneak a few jabs in under the guise of poking fun at conspiracy theorists.

It was also very relevant in 1989, people just didnt know.

Too bad it was in front of them, like it always is.

But I must admit that the cartoon does not seem funny. Not simpsons/south park worthy atleast :- >

It’s a rather well done piece of anti-propaganda that tells the truth about the consolidation of media, media censorship, war profiteering and election-engineering. It even mentions the JFK assassination… who believes the official story about that?

There it is, In a nutshell.

Juuust a little too close to the mark for their comfort.

And thats how we know the truth. Not by what they say, but by what they unsay.

very accurate, but not funny. I'm surprised it aired in the first place - I'd be willing to bet post 9/11 it wouldn't

You can always tell which threads are really dangerous to the establishment. Theyre the ones with three times as many flags as responses. People are terrified to concur in person so they just flag and hide under the bed.

That was never meant to be funny, at all.

It was a one time shot(and they knew it) to use a live (heavily viewed) TV platform to push the truth. There was no humor there, only cold hard facts slapping people in the face. Cover-ups, conspiracies and the truth behind who runs the world.

I commend them for doing that, I"m sure there was a lot of closed door meetings and threats for a while after a "stunt" like that.

That was very creative who ever was responsible for putting that together.

Loren Michael s pulled this video because"it wasn't funny????????????????????????????? Come on here. I would venture that at least a good half of the crap SNL airs is not funny. They often take a skit that was not funny in the first place and with a few changes, do it again. And again and again and again. Sounds to me as if Michaels took one more step in his copping out dance.

Here's a shot at a transcription:
It's a media-opoly.
A media-opoly.
The whole media's controlled by a few corporations thanks to de-regulation by the FCC.
You mean Disney, Fox, Westinghouse and good 'ol GE?
They own networks from CBS to CNBC.
They can use 'em to say whatever they please and put down the opinions of anyone who disagrees.
But what about PCBs (PCBs?) They come from electric powerplants built by Westinghouse and GE.
They can give you lots of cancer that will hurt your body!
But on network TV you rarely hear anything bad about the nuclear industry.
Like when Westinghouse was sued for fraud? Which time?
GE made defective bolts it was an unreported crime--and were boycotted for operating nuclear bomb plants just to squeeze a dime.
That's a footnote by the way. A footnote protects you from those who doubt what you say.
Now maybe the voices in my head will go away.
But the bigshots don't care, they're all sitting pretty thanks to corporate welfare.
They get billions in subsidies from the government. It's supposed to create jobs but that's not how its spent.
They use PAC's and soft money to support congressmen who will vote for weapons programs again and again.
And let them dump toxic waste where the young kids play
GE even made the bullets that shot JFK.
You contribute to this chain every time you buy a product sponsored on this show
That's what GE doesn't want you to know. So the next time...
Please stand by, please stand by, the reason is technical difficulty...supposedly...so if you see the "Please Stand By" you'll know its a part of GE's big lie.
Why'd they take Norm MacDonald away? 'Cause he made too many jokes about OJ.
Would Lorne Michael overrule? Now don't be cruel, he and Marion Barry went to the same high school!

I thought it was funnier than most sketches aired on SNL. Obviously, this just hit to close for comfort and the hand that feeds you will suddenly go empty if you keep that up.

I don't think it does pass over their heads, but people realize they can do little about it. many groups and people have tried, and have ended up humiliated, unemployed, taken to court, marginalized to the point of seeming to be nutcases, or if all that doesn't work, they have a fatal auto accident.

I think it's a good video for people that are against socialism!
It clearly state that corporations get subsidies and that's close to socialism and communism right?

Oh...it's socialism for the rich and capitalism for everyone else.

And of course, we always have happy sheeple that defend those disgusting parasites and are happy to deny people free education.
