Your OP says nothing of 100% of "cascadia" land was stolen from 100's of indigenous tribes from 1804 thru present day.

Are "cascadians" going to the Hague to answer for MASSIVE crimes against humanity?

Well they did name the Red Skins after them, come on what do you want

Which is better - to be ruled by one tyrant three thousand miles away or by three thousand tyrants one mile away?"

- Mather Byles

- also, many libertarians.

The answer of course is neither. And I've read Ayn Rand.

They would have a hard time with Idaho, and eastern oregon anyway. WAY conservative

Political diversity is a Cascadian value. Those places have their own reasons they might want more autonomy.

There's more than enough room for more than one viewpoint.

Exactly. So good luck convincing a bunch of folks to shuck the morons in DC, most of a continent away, for somebody else running things from an hour away.

...and way fed up with Washington DC. Speaking as a lifetime eastern Washington resident.

I think you'd find that it'd be split fairly evenly for and against. Personally, I think it'd be slightly in favor in the next few years if things don't change.

Since I'm basically evil (based on 5 years of replies here
) I want to become the Evil Dictator of Cascadia.

I can be an evil genius and have the population as my slave-army bent on world domination.

Traitors! Bigots! how dare you want to leave the US!

If Texas is a bigot for wanting to do it, SO ARE YOU

But. . . but. . . we have a flag!

It's ugly. Doesn't count.

I like the idea, personally.

But I do have to wonder how many posting on here, sneered at Texas.

Going to have to grow a chin-beard now.

Fwiw: I never sneered at Texas.

I feel they should be able to go their own way if they want to. I just think they talk very loudly about it at times but it's always grandstanding while people in Cascadia are quietly laying the groundwork and preparing here for a viable nation in the future if that had to happen for whatever reason.

"Basically" evil?

I think you need to go reread the religious parents thread.

So you are perfectly ok with your taxes going to the NSA to spy on you as if you already lived in a foreign nation.

Yes, the reason I don't want to be forced to live in a fledgling country is because I enjoy having the NSA waste tax dollars.

I'm open to the idea, but I have yet to see any documentation that's swayed me. It's a sort of nice idea, but at the moment I don't think it's a great one. I'm not sure it's realistic.

If you have the time here is a trailer then the link to the film

Occupied Cascadia' film examining the severity of our cultural & environmental crisis. It aims to explore the concept of bioregionalism as well as a deeper inquiry into what is actually needed for humanity to curb planetary collapse & catastrophe for survival.

That's kind of where I'm at with it. Some days, I'd be all for it, others...not so much. Circumstance will, as usual, guide me.

Those of us in the middle are tired of you trying to impose your lifestyles on us

Ha, we're tired of having all the stupid, regressive crap being pushed on us like guns everywhere, theocracy, massive military spending while cutting all benefits to the people, the war on science, war on women, war on sex, etc.

Yep. Automatically citizens, who get to pay taxes. It's a nice neat way to solve the problem. Just make sure the new borders are secured so it doesn't become a problem again in the future.
